Bo Nylandsted Larsen Joins VIKAND as VP

Wallenius Wilhelmsen CEO Craig Jasienski Steps Down

Norwegian/Swedish shipping company Wallenius Wilhelmsen announced its CEO, Craig Jasienski, has stepped down from his role and left the company effective March 8.The car carrier operator said its current CFO, Torbjørn Wist, will assume the role of acting CEO while it works to find a replacement for Jasienski, a 30-year Wallenius Wilhelmsen employee.Wist joined Wallenius Wilhelmsen as EVP and CFO on October 1, 2020. New York Shipping Conference: The New Normal

Examining key industry drivers is the focus of the 17th annual Hellenic-American and Norwegian-American Chambers of Commerce annual conference, often called the New York Shipping Conference. Entitled “Challenges & Opportunities for the Shipping Industry: Is There a New Normal?” the conference will present the macro shipping and economic overview, the impact of increasing environmental regulation on the shipping market, the availability of capital and its many forms, the growing influence of China and India on Shipping, and shipowners’ points of view. The event will be held on Tuesday, February 8th at the Waldorf-Astoria (a new venue for this event) starting at 0815 with conference registration and coffee.

Ringbakken Managing Director at DNK

Svein Ringbakken has been appointed by the DNK Board to take over the mantle as Managing Director upon Bjørn Eidem’s retirement. Before joining DNK in 2004 Svein Ringbakken had a 14 year-long career with INTERTANKO, based in London, Washington DC and Oslo, where his last position was Deputy Managing Director and General Counsel. Current Managing Director, Bjørn Eidem, has held a number of key positions in both Norwegian and international business including the chairmanship of Scandinavian Airlines Systems, media and yard groups in addition to serving as director and counsel of Fred Olsen & Co. Bjørn Eidem will maintain contact with business life as a part-time arbitrator in commercial disputes and resuming board work.

Marine Press of Canada Focuses on Europe

Having released version 4.0 of its Digitrace software, Marine Press of Canada is focusing on Europe with the creation of a new position as sales manager for the European market. Johan Sunnberg, born in Sweden, comes from a management position at Scandinavian Airlines’ Cargo division, and will in this role focus on establishing new business, as well as setting up a distributor network. During October 2001, distributors were also appointed in Germany, Sweden, Finland and Italy. The German market will be the responsibility of SevenCs who is a well- established company in the development of ECDIS charts and S-57 Kernels. Nautic Center in Gothenburg and Troil Marin in Helsinki are long established chart agents representing the UKHO.
