Scenic Eclipse Launch Delayed, Again

The launch of Scenic Eclipse, which is touted as world's most luxurious cruise ship and  the world’s first “discovery yacht”,  has been pushed back to 15 August 2019.Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours announced last July a five-month delay until January 2019, although that date was later amended to 13 April.The 228-guest Scenic Eclipse will now be a year late as the company announced it would take delivery of the new luxury vessel in August 2019.It is reported the shipyard has faced financial troubles, resulting in workers not having been paid in full since last August, triggering strikes and labour shortages.Scenic said the net result was “months” of lost production.

Oliver Design to Showcase Projects at Navalia

Oliver Design will be showcasing some of its latest projects on its stand at the Navalia trade fair, which runs from May 22 to 24 , in Vigo, Spain.Recent projects from the Spanish firm, which specializes in naval design and architecture, include new state-of the-art vessels ranging from working vessels to luxury cruise ships. It has also carried out renovation on several existing vessels.The biannual Navalia is one of the top international fairs for the shipbuilding industry.

Uljanik Floats Out Scenic Eclipse

Croatian shipbuilder Uljanik Shipyard said it has floated out a new polar discovery passenger ship for the Scenic group, on January 31, 2018.   The new 168-meter, 237-passenger luxury vessel, Scenic Eclipse, features Polar Class 6 COLD DI notation. It is the first vessel launched this year at Uljanik.   Scenic Eclipse is expected to launch in summer 2018.

Kongsberg Technology Chosen for New Ice Class Cruise Ship

Kongsberg Maritime technology has been chosen for installation aboard Australian cruise line Scenic Cruises’ new ice class cruise ship. The 228-passenger, 168 meter long Scenic Eclipse features an ice strengthened hull, but with sleek lines, state-of-the art technology and luxury fittings, it takes its design cues from the exclusive world of billionaire’s megayachts. Scenic Eclipse is currently under construction at Uljanik Shipyard in Croatia, with delivery expected during 2018.

ABB’s Azipod D to Power Scenic Eclipse

ABB’s Azipod D will power the luxurious 10-deck discovery cruiser Scenic Eclipse to some of the world’s most remote destinations. Built to Polar Class 6 the vessel will have the ability to navigate the summer waters of Polar Regions. The ship’s two 3 MW Azipod units will allow it to reach destinations previously off limits for large passenger vessels, taking advantage of the propulsion system’s track record of operating safely in every corner of the planet. Polar Expedition Vessel to be Built in Croatia

Bureau Veritas (BV) is to class a new concept luxury expedition cruise vessel to be built for Australia’s Scenic group. The 165m vessel will be built at Croatia’s Uljanik shipyard for delivery in summer 2018. It will have lower berth accommodation for 228 passengers and 172 crew and will meet the requirements of the newly adopted Polar Code allowing operation for a certain period of the year in Polar waters. Particular attention has been paid to safety, meeting the Safe Return to Port criteria, and to comfort for the whole accommodation, based on BV Comfort Class criteria.

Scenic to Build World's First Discovery Yacht

Scenic has announced the launch of the world’s First Discovery Yacht, the Scenic Eclipse. The new ship will embark on its maiden voyage August 31, 2018, sailing from Istanbul to Venice, followed by discovery voyages to the Americas, Antarctica, Europe and the Mediterranean, and the Arctic and Norwegian Fjords. Scenic Eclipse will be a six-star all-inclusive mega yacht. The Scenic Eclipse will carry 228 guests in 114 all-veranda suites, ranging from the 344 square foot Verandah Suite to the 2,500 square foot, two-bedroom Owner’s Penthouse Suite. The Scenic Eclipse will have two helicopters for excursions as well as a seven-seat submarine. A fleet of Zodiacs and kayaks will be onboard along with scuba diving and snorkeling equipment.
