Keppel FELS Brasil Secures FPSO Topside Contracts

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), through its subsidiary Keppel FELS Brasil, has secured two contracts totalling R$500 million (approx. S$381.4 million) - one from Single Buoy Moorings Inc. (SBM), and another from the joint venture company MODEC and Toyo Offshore Production Systems (MTOPS). Mr Chow Yew Yuen, President (The Americas) of Keppel O&M, said, "Keppel has worked closely with various international drillers and fleet owners operating in Brazil for some 30 years. Today, in replicating Keppel O&M's proven systems and practices in Brazil, we are able to offer a full range of offshore solutions in construction, conversion, repair and modification, as well as the fabrication and integration of production topsides, among others.

Mitsui Engineering, Schahin $1.2B Order From Petrobras

According to an August 22 report from Bloomberg, Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. and Schahin Engenharia SA won a $1.2b order from Petroleo Brasileiro SA to build a floating oil platform for use in the Guara oil fields off Rio de Janeiro. Mitsui Engineering unit Modec Inc., the second-largest maker of floating oil platform, will build a floating production, storage and offloading vessel by remodeling a used oil tanker, and lease it for 20 years, said Masahiro Takaoka, a spokesman for Tokyo-based Mitsui Engineering. Friede Goldman Signs $143 Million Contract to Build Millennium SA

Friede Goldman International Inc. (FGI) has signed a $143.2 million contract with Rudgil SA, a subsidiary of Schahin Engenharia e Comercio Ltda. The Millennium SA (South America) is the latest in new, deepwater semisubmersible designs from FGI subsidiary Friede & Goldman, Ltd., (F&G) a New Orleans-based naval architecture and marine engineering company. Equipped as a dynamically positioned semi with a DPS-2 station keeping system, the Millennium SA is capable of drilling in 5,000 ft. of water with a variable deck load of 3,500 long tons. F&G will perform engineering work on the project in conjunction with Friede Goldman Offshore, East in Pascagoula, Miss., where the rig will be constructed.
