Kraken Robotik Imaging System for AWI

Kraken Sonar Inc. subsidiary Kraken Robotik GmbH in Bremen, Germany has been awarded a contract to design and build a 6,000m rated 3D laser/optical imaging system for the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) in Bremerhaven. Delivery is scheduled for June 2017. The 3D smart camera system will be based on Kraken’s recently announced SeaVision technology, but custom engineered and adapted to operate over extended periods under harsh deep-sea conditions. SeaVision is the world's first RGB underwater laser imaging system that offers the resolution, range and scan rate to deliver dense full color 3D point cloud images of subsea infrastructure with millimeter accuracy in real time. ASV Completes GoM Monitoring

ASV has collaborated with the Littoral Acoustic Demonstration Center Gulf Ecological Monitoring and Modeling (LADC-GEMM) consortium to conduct 10 days of Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) data collection for its BP/Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GoMRI) funded project. ASV worked closely with Seiche Measurements Limited to integrate its PAM technology on both the C-Worker 6 and C-Enduro Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs). The ASV crew operated from the R/V Pelican coastal research vessel to collect extensive data, which will undergo analysis in the coming months. The two ASV’s were able to identify approximately 30 marine mammals whilst operating in challenging sea conditions up to sea state 5.

Infrared radar cameras monitor Valdez port

A high-tech infrared camera system now monitors the port of Valdez and vessels transiting Prince William Sound. This Infrared maritime surveillance system supplements the extensive maritime and land-based homeland security measures put in to action in Valdez and around the nation following the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. Culminating a two-year effort by the Valdez port security committee, last week Scientific Applications International Corporation (SAIC) put the finishing touches on and energized a state-of-the-art infrared camera port security surveillance system covering the port of Valdez and the trans-Alaska pipeline oil tankers transiting Prince William Sound.
