Scottish Offshore Wind Supply Chain Readies

International energy consultancy Xodus Group is working with Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International (SDI) to showcase the expertise of Scottish supply chain companies in the global offshore wind sector.The aim of the collaboration is to create a directory and gap analysis which helps Scotland-based suppliers capture a greater share of the burgeoning offshore wind market — forecast to be worth an estimated GBP 30 billion per annum by 2030 — by advertising their experience and capabilities on the new Scottish Industries Directories platform.Due to launch later in 2019, it is hoped the website will become a one-stop…

Atlantis Chief Joins Ocean Energy

Tim Cornelius, CEO of global tidal developer Atlantis Resources has taken a seat on the Board of Directors of Ocean Energy Europe – the industry group for ocean renewable energy – by becoming a Lead Sponsor of the organisation. The move reflects Atlantis’ position as a leading developer of commercial tidal power projects and underpins its commitment to driving the market for ocean renewable energy. Following its acquisition of pioneering tidal company Marine Current Turbines earlier this year, Atlantis Resources now owns one of the largest and most diverse portfolios in the business, with a project pipeline of 600MW. This portfolio includes the 398MW MeyGen project, the world’s largest planned tidal stream array which is currently under construction in the Pentland Firth, Scotland.

Ace Winches Sets its Sights on Southeast Asia

Ace Winches, the deck machinery specialists, is coming to Malaysia’s capital as part of next month’s Oil and Gas Asia exhibition at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. The company will be exhibiting as part of the Scottish Development International Scottish Pavilion in Hall 6 on Stand 6124A. Although this is the first time the Scottish manufacturing company will be on display at this trade convention, Ace Winches has a decade of experience in doing business throughout the region. In 2003 the company took its first order from Consolidated Pipe Carriers (CPC) for a ten point mooring spread consisting of 10 25-ton mooring winches and their associated Electric Hydraulic Power Units (HPU’s).

4th Annual Global Marine Renewable Energy Conference

Wednesday April 27,  Industry Development Day there will be reports and discussion about current research on MHK advancement from Sandia National Laboratories,  National Renewable Energy Laboratory; and the Department of Energy. There will also be a workshop on Government Advocacy. Thursday April 28 features industry updates from CEOs and keynotes from Paul O'Brien of Scottish Development International; Michael Bromwich, Director, BOEMRE; John Wellinghof, Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; and William Tayler, Director Shore Energy, Office of the Deputy Asst. Secretary of Navy (Energy). The day concludes  with status reports  from the International Energy Agency Ocean Energy Systems Implementing Agreement updates from participating countries.

The oil and gas industry is facing a set of unique challenges: determining how to instill sustainability, meeting the needs of remote reservoirs, ensuring the progression to fallow fields, looking to make cost reductions and making use of the technological advances in the industry. Scotland has drawn on its industry expertise, strong academic tradition and experience in innovative technologies to develop a strategy that will meet the emerging needs of the industry. The approach, developed by Scottish Development International, has two main objectives.
