Vroon, Seagull Maritime Ink Training Agreement

Seagull Training App v2.0 Enriched for Ease of Use

Seagull Maritime said it has upgraded its Seagull Training App, the mobile software solution that has changed the way seafarers track their training records and receive critical safety alerts. Available in both Android and iOS formats, the newly enhanced app can be used across a range of mobile devices, with dynamic screen layouts for all sizes, including tablets. The home screen has also been refined to include a bottom bar menu featuring click-through to notifications, training statuses and scheduled activities.

Seagull Maritime Launches Training Analytics Tool

Seagull, Safebridge offer ECDIC Training Portfolio

Update on Seagull Mobile apps for Crew

The Seagull mobile app for crew training status is set to revolutionise the way seafarers track their training records and receive critical safety alerts, by making both instantly accessible via iPhones and Android devices. The Seagull crew app is available free of charge to all Seagull customers, offering access to selected records within the Seagull Training Administrator Online database covering individual seafarer status on all training requirements and competency. “Seagull is the first to respond to the changing training needs of the seafarers of today, who are entitled to expect the best available tools to support their safety and competency,” says Roger Ringstad, Seagull Maritime Managing Director.

Container Industry Competence Standard Launched

Seagull Maritime AS has launched the Container Industry Competence Standard (CICS), an assessment and training system covering container vessel operations. The program aims to bring new consistency to competency on-board containerships, following a similar breakthrough from Seagull in the dry bulk sector last year, and earlier competence management system developments for the tanker industry. CICS has drawn on cooperation with Rickmers Shipmanagement GmbH, which offered key insights into cargo handling competencies specific to container vessel operations. The program has already been piloted and is now available for all container operators.

Seagull Secures Panama Flag Approval

Seagull Maritime said it has secured training center approval from the Panama Maritime Authority, marking the first time that an overseas company has done so following the PMA’s 2014 change of leadership. Seagull Maritime AS debuts STA 4.0

Seagull Maritime AS has launched Seagull Training Administrator 4.0, an updated version of the shipping industry’s most widely used training administrator, in a move the company says makes computer-based packages even easier to use. Seagull Debuts Bulker Competence Evaluator

Seagull has released the Bulker Industry Training Standard (BITS), a predefined competence management system for the dry bulk industry. BITS is a computer-based evaluation tool to enhance the competency of officers onboard a ship type whose maintenance, operating and cargo handling practices can be unique. Seagull Licensed to Utilize ISF Onboard Training Books

Norwegian training specialist Seagull AS signs a licensing agreement with the International Shipping Federation (ISF). The agreement allows Seagull to utilise electronic versions of the widely-used ISF Onboard Training Record Books in conjunction with the Seagull Competence Manager software, granting them the right to develop an electronic version of all four ISF Record Books and sub-licence these to ship operators using the Seagull Training Administrator program. The four ISF Record Books – for trainee deck officers, engineer officers, deck ratings and engine ratings –have all been written to reflect the amended competence requirements of STCW 2010.

Seagull Signs Landmark Licensing Agreement

Interorient’s Crew Training Culture Strengthened by Seagull

The Norwegian marine training specialist Seagull is now the sole provider of onboard training systems to the Interorient fleet. Cyprus-headquartered Interorient employs over 300 shore-based employees and more than 1,200 seafarers on around 60 fully managed ships, including a number of predominantly ice class product tankers, containerships, roll-on roll-off  vessels and bulk carriers. The global provider of marine transportation services has used Seagull training modules since 2005, starting with Seagull’s Crew Evaluation System (CES), the computer-based assessment tool which is used to evaluate the knowledge of  seafarers as part of the company’s recruitment and promotion process, and to identify future training requirements.

Consilium ECDIS Product-Specific on Board Training Module

Consilium, one of the worlds’s leading suppliers of fire and gas detection and navigation systems, has reached an agreement with well known training specialist Seagull to develop an ECDIS product-specific computer-based training package. As mandatory ECDIS fast approaches, Seagull Managing Director Roger Ringstad said that ECDIS suppliers were increasingly realising the need for product-specific ECDIS training onboard ship. “Shore-based ECDIS facilities can hardly offer the type of product-specific training that key Flag States are increasingly seeking, because there are too many different ECDIS makers and an unlimited number of software versions and system configurations,” he said. “ECDIS training has reached a crossroads and ship owners need to be ready for compulsory ECDIS.

Seagull Extends MLC Training Package

Seagull's IMSBC Code Training Module

Seagull AS, provider of computer based training (CBT) for seafarers, has introduced a new module that incorporates the regulatory changes made through the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code that became mandatory under the SOLAS Convention from January 1st, 2011. The new Code, which covers the loading, discharge and transportation by sea of dry bulk cargoes, replaces the Code of Safe Practice for Solid Bulk Cargoes (The BC Code), and has to be followed by all bulk carriers. Working closely with experts from South Tyneside College, Seagull has completely revised its previously BC Code-compliant training module in order to implement the necessary changes and bring it in line with the new IMSBC Code.

Opening of the Seagull Japan Office

Seagull AS announced the opening of their new office in Yokohama, Japan, bringing the total number of Seagull offices worldwide to seven.
