Wärtsilä, Royal Caribbean Extend Partnership to 2028

Wärtsilä and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. have extended their long-term service agreement to 2028, as the marine and cruise industry is moving more and more toward long-term partnerships.Under the agreement, Wärtsilä is optimizing maintenance efficiency through improved turbocharger maintenance, providing OEM spare parts, workshop services and preferred technical assistance for 46 Royal Caribbean Cruises’ ships. Wärtsilä Inks 10-year Maintenance Deal with Virgin Voyages

Cruise line Virgin Voyages has assigned Wärtsilä the responsibility of the maintenance of its three brand new cruise ships due to enter service in 2020, 2021 and 2022.The comprehensive 10-year Optimized Maintenance Agreement, signed on April 30, 2018, gives extensive responsibility of maintenance to Wärtsilä, who will ensure that vessels are powered and operated reliably, efficiently and sustainably.Wärtsilä’s Dynamic Maintenance Planning allows maintenance operations to be carried out based on remotely monitored and analyzed real-time performance data.

Repeat Order from Prestige Cruise for Wärtsilä

Two vessels have been added to the five-year maintenance agreement that was signed between Wärtsilä, the marine industry’s leading solutions and services provider, and US-based Prestige Cruise Holdings, Inc. (Prestige), the parent company of Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. The agreement now covers eight vessels with a total of 35 Wärtsilä engines. The tailor-made agreement that was signed in 2012 with Prestige is one of the most comprehensive yet for the cruise industry. The depth and scope of the agreement covers pro-active planning by both companies working in co-operation. It also involves dedicated teams from both parties, which will work closely together to ensure maximized lifetime, reduced operational costs and optimal performance of the Prestige fleet.

RPG: Authorized Turbo Repair Center for Napier Turbochargers

Large bore engine sales and service company, Resource Power Group (RPG) has received Napier Turbocharger’s authorization as a service, repair and spare parts center. This move compliments RPG’s existing capabilities as a medium speed engine, turbocharger, and fuel equipment service and sales company. For it to become authorized by Napier Turbochargers Ltd. “Customers with Napier Turbochargers will be pleased with RPG’s ability to provide competitive OEM Napier spare parts, new Napier turbochargers, complete spare cartridges, retrofits, and a service team with a high sense of urgency,” said Sean Carey RPG’s General Manager.

Kriner Joins Resource Power Group

Engine sales and service company, Resource Power Group (RPG) has appointed Michael Kriner as the company’s Houston Branch Manager. The focus of the Houston branch of the MaK and large bore engine business will be Texas and the Gulf of Mexico territories. Kriner is a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy. He was previously employed as the Houston Operations Manager for ABB Turbocharger, Inc and before that as Repair Manager for Houston Ship Repair. “Bringing Mike on board is a key step in RPG’s plan to build a strong engine service and repair presence to the Houston market. Mike has a tremendous amount of experience in the turbocharger business and a strong background in ship repair.

RPG Acquires Gen Turbo Inc.

Resource Power Group (RPG) acquired the assets of Gen Turbo Inc., a supplier of parts and services for large bore diesel engine turbochargers in Miami, FL. Gen Turbo Inc. (GTI) is recognized in the industry for delivering to it’s customers a combination of affordable, high quality, and highly technical turbocharger services. Genato Samson and Celso Villanueva, the founders of  GTI, are considered to be experts with ABB, KBB, and Napier type turbochargers. Mr. Samson was previously employed by ABB turbocharger as a Service Engineer and an ABB turbocharger Workshop Manager. He will assume the role of RPG’s Turbocharger Workshop and Sales Manager. Mr. Villanueva was previously employed by MaK as a Service and Commissioning Engineer.

Carey Joins RPG

Resource Power Group (RPG) has appointed Sean Carey as the engine sales & service company’s General Manager of the MaK and large bore engine business for the southeast US and the Caribbean territories. Carey is a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy who previously was employed as a Service Sales Manager for Wartsila North America, Inc. “With Sean’s leadership, RPG will quickly become a preferred equipment and services supplier for MaK engines and other large bore diesel and natural gas engines to customers in the US and the Caribbean” said Robert Webb, President of Louisiana CAT, RPG’s parent company.
