With the new release of Synergi Water software, water network engineers can model open channel flow, providing a more efficient and time saving design process with more accurate results. Many water systems include a network of open channels to transport water, particularly from collection systems to treatment plants. Planners and engineers need to model these systems along with their closed pipe networks in order to optimize the design and operations. Until now, some users have refrained from modelling open channels while others have used models in two separate software systems to model the water flow in both closed pipe networks and in open channels. Search Continues for Lost 1914 Submarine
Royal Australian Navy Minehunter, HMAS Yarra, has been undertaking an underwater search off Papua New Guinea for HMAS AE1, the Navyâs first submarine. AE1 was lost without a trace on September 14, 1914, with her full crew of three officers and 32 sailors. The Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Tim Barrett AO, CSC RAN, said the search had been ongoing for many years, and Yarraâs crew was up to the task: âThe full expertise and training of the crew will be brought to bear in aid of the search. Commanding Officer of HMAS Yarra, Lieutenant Commander Brendan OâHara, said a number of scenarios had been considered in determining the search area. The Coast Guard announces the availability of Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular (NVIC) 01-13, âInspection and Certification of Vessels Under the Maritime Security Program (MSP).â The MSP serves as a means for establishing a fleet of commercially viable and militarily useful vessels to meet national defense as well as other security requirements. NVIC 01-13 sets forth the Coast Guard's policies and procedures regarding the inspection and certification of vessels under the MSP.
