BC Shipbuilding Industry Launches Cash Prize Competition

The B.C. Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Board (SSRB), with support from the B.C. Ministry of Jobs, Tourism & Skills Training, is kicking off their Shipbuilders campaign with an online contest. Individuals can participate in the campaign and win a chance at one of three cash prizes with a total value of six thousand dollars by sharing a story, video, and/or survey about their experiences in the shipbuilding and ship repair industry. Selected stories and elements of the survey will be used throughout the development of the Shipbuilders campaign, and three finalists will be chosen by a jury of industry experts to take home cash prizes of $3000.00 for first place (donated by Seaspan Marine Corporation), $2,000.00 for second place (donated by B.C.

Seaspan Launches Supplier Self-Registration Portal

Seaspan Marine Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of its Supplier Self-Registration Portal. The multi-year shipbuilding program that Seaspan is undertaking requires a large number of varied suppliers. This new portal will establish a single database of all potential suppliers to match procurement operations with profiles. It will also establish more rigor in supplier qualification and development. “We are in the early stages of developing a procurement strategy to support the National  Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS) program, and this is the first step in building key partnerships with our established and future suppliers,” said Brian Carter, Seaspan Shipyards president.

Seaspan Shipyards Ranked As A Top 10 Defence Company in Canada

Seaspan Marine Corporation is pleased to announce that it has been ranked 8th among the top 50 defence companies in Canada for 2011 by Canadian Defence Review (CDR) magazine. Each year, CDR commissions an expansive search to determine the top defence companies in Canada. An evaluation panel consisting of CDR editorial staff and independent advisors rank the companies based on factors such as economic impact, innovation, contribution to the nation’s security and support of Canada’s military.
