ABS Signs Electric Tugboat MoU

ABS joined Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Seatech Solutions International and Shift Clean Energy in signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop electric tugboats, part of an initiative to achieve India’s goal of becoming the ‘Global Hub for Green Shipbuilding’ by 2030.The proposed E-VOLT 50 tug aims to reduce carbon emissions, improve operational efficiency and set new benchmarks for performance and environmental sustainability in the tugboat industry.GRSE will build the platform based on the design from Seatech, and Shift will provide energy storage solutions.

Singapore’s First Fully Electric Cargo Vessel Launched

Yinson GreenTech (YGT) and the Goal Zero Consortium led by SeaTech Solutions have officially launched Hydromover, a lightweight, 18.5 meter vessel that has become Singapore’s first fully electric cargo vessel.The vessel is designed with swappable battery solutions and can carry up to 25 tonnes of cargo. Singapore’s First Hybrid Electric Bunker Vessel Delivered

Singapore’s first hybrid bunker tanker, Marine Charge, has been delivered to V-Bunkers, Vitol’s Singaporean bunker operations company.The 7990-ton vessel, designed by SeaTech Solutions and built by Zhejiang Shenzhou Sunshine Heavy Industry is fitted with 480Kwh of Shift’s energy storage system (ESS).Shift Clean Energy’s ESS will be primarily used for peak shaving (storing energy during low power consumption for use during peak usage periods, allowing main generators to operate with a more stable load).

Marco Polo Marine to Build, Operate CSOV as Offshore Wind Industry 'Grapples with Shortage'

Singapore-listed firm Marco Polo Marine said Tuesday it planned to build, own and operate a new Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) to meet the rising demand for support vessels required to service the booming offshore wind farm industry in Asia. When completed in the first quarter of 2024, the vessel will also be the first CSOV to be designed in Asia."The group will be funding the construction of the vessel with its existing resources and borrowings from financial institutions.

Shipbuilding: Med Marine Tapped to Build Buoy Tender for Port Qasim

Earlier this year Med Marine signed a contract with the Port Qasim Authority of Pakistan (PQA) for the delivery of a Conventional Twin Screw Buoy Tender Vessel, MED-B4500, for buoy-laying in the port located in the city of Karachi. MED-B4500 is a 45 x 11.8 meter vessel built to facilitate a crew of 16.

Rolls-Royce to Supply Engines for First Seabed Mining Vessel

Rolls-Royce has secured a landmark agreement to supply six of its new B33:45 medium-speed diesel generator sets to China’s Fuijan Mawei shipyard for configuration aboard the world’s first ever seabed mining vessel. The Eighth FORAN Users Meeting (FORUM 2014) took place June 11-13, 2014 in the Parador de la Granja, Segovia, and when it was over the organizers proclaimed it a great success, recording the highest number of participants ever. ASRY Builds Four New Shipyard Tugs

While Bahrain’s Arab Shipbuilding & Repair Yard Co (ASRY) is an established power in the ship repair business, it had traditionally not engaged in the business of ship and boat building. “The very simple answer, really, is that we have found there is more money to be made repairing ships than building them,” said Chris Potter, Chief Executive Officer, ASRY. ASRY is, however, capable, and is building a series of four new tugs for itself on its large slipways, with the lead vessel, as yet unnamed, due for delivery by the end of 2011.

Sener Enters Singapore With SeaTech

SENER is proud to announce its entry into Singapore with the introduction of the FORAN CAD/CAM/CIM System at the offices of SeaTech Solutions International (S) Pte Ltd., a recently incorporated marine design and consultancy organisation. SeaTech is founded by two dynamic and experienced professionals, Mr. G. S. Chopra, 46, and Mr. A. V. Kamath, 47, both qualified naval architects who bring together more than 50 years of combined experience in ship design and shipbuilding to SeaTech. Both, Mr. Chopra and Mr. Kamath, are well known and respected figures in the marine industry and have led reputed consultancy organisations individually in Singapore and India, respectively.

Double-Hulled Products Carrier for Dubai Company

In late August of this year the Dubai Drydocks delivered a handsome 45-metre lube oil tanker to Gulf Agency Company of the same city. The vessel, named GAC Mumtaz was built to a design from Mr. G.S. Chopra of Seatech Solutions in Singapore. With a beam of 12 metres the boat will carry up to six TEU (20-foot equivalent unit) containers in addition to three 50 cubic metre lube oil cargo tanks. Other tankage includes 60 cubic metres of fuel and 20 cubic metres of water. The steel fabrication materials for the hull and superstructure plate ranges from eight to eleven millimetres. The 3.5-metre moulded depth of the hull is built with a double skin and bottom for added safety. Accommodation is provided for ten people.
