MATS, A New Uncrewed Platform for Offshore Wind

Survey, positioning and data management firm UTEC, part of the Acteon Group, is targeting the offshore wind survey and inspection market with a new uncrewed surface vessel (USV).Torsten Marten, lead surveyor, UTEC, outlined the new design at the Marine Autonomous Technology Showcase (MATS), at the National Oceanography Center (NOC) in Southampton, UK, early November.It’s a 12m-long, “DP equivalent” catamaran design, developed to offer a stable platform for survey and inspection operations…

Seatronics Appoints Donaldson as V.P.

Seatronics Ltd, an Acteon company and part of its survey, monitoring and data business, has promoted Derek Donaldson from vice president Asia Pacific to vice president global operations. Donaldson enters into a new position within the Seatronics Group management structure, reporting directly to the Seatronics Group managing director, Phil Middleton. Donaldson and Middleton will together support regional vice presidents in managing and developing the global Seatronics business. Donaldson will be based in Singapore and will continue to manage the regional office, whilst maintaining a global presence. Donaldson said, “I joined Seatronics because of the quality of the team.

Seatronics Appoint Thiago Montanari Sales Manager

Seatronics do Brazil, an Acteon company, appoint Thiago Montanari as sales manager. Montanari is based in Rio de Janeiro and will report directly to Seatronics vice president, Fabio D’Agostino. Montanari has six years of experience in the offshore industry, working extensively in the Caspian (Kasakhstan), Mediterranean, Adriatic and Caribbean (Cuba) seas, as well as in Angola, Patagonia and Libya. Montanari will be responsible for maturing existing relationships while growing and developing global business opportunities with existing and potential clients.

J2 Joins Acteon

Acteon has completed the acquisition of J2 Engineering Services Ltd, which is based in Aberdeen, U.K. J2 Engineering is involved in the rental, maintenance and repair of ROV manipulator arms and associated tooling and equipment. Seatronics Relocates to Larger Facility

Seatronics Pte Ltd, an Acteon company, has moved its Singapore operations to a facility with triple the capacity of the previous within the recently upgraded Toll Offshore Supply Base. The new location offers nearly 1,000 square meters of specialist engineering and electronic preparation workshops and warehousing space. The new facility includes a state-of-the-art cable molding operation, extensive hydraulic test facilities, CTD and Sound Velocity calibration equipment as well as a training room which can accommodate up to 20 clients on a variety of course topics.

Jeff Holtom New Seatronics Middle East Manager

Acteon company, Seatronics Ltd., has appointed Jeff Holtom as regional manager in the Middle East. Based in Abu Dhabi, Holtom’s responsibilities at Seatronics Ltd. will include sales and marketing, overall Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) responsibility and general and management of the Seatronics office in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Holtom has a degree in land and hydrographic surveying from North East London Polytechnic, UK. Orders for Reson’s SeaBat Sonar Systems

Reson was awarded a number of contracts in the offshore sector in 2008 due to the technical success of SeaBat 7125 multibeam sonar systems. The systems mounted on ROVs have been delivered to British contractors and marine survey equipment rental companies. All SeaBat 7125 systems provide a depth rating of up to 6,000 meters and featuring either a single (400kHz) or dual frequency (200kHz/400kHz). The dual frequency version allows for a change of frequency without replacing or reconfiguring the sonar and thus reduces the survey time.

Acteon Completes Acquisitions

Acteon has completed the acquisition of three companies from the Aberdeen-based Craig Group. They are Seatronics, International Mooring Systems (IMS) and Chain Corporation International (ChainCo). David Currie will continue to lead Seatronics; and Alan Duncan will head IMS and ChainCo. Both will report to Acteon Vice President Bernhard Bruggaier. The activities of IMS and ChainCo are very much in line with existing Acteon companies InterMoor and Trident – the two new companies will considerably improve Acteon’s overall offering in the moorings market. As a whole, InterMoor and IMS together will possess the world’s largest inventory of mooring equipment available for rental. The acquisition of Seatronics provides an entry for Acteon into the advanced marine survey sector.

Seatronics Release Upgraded seascan Systems

Seatronics Ltd., have recently announced the addition of two new models to their range of ground discrimination systems. Replacing the existing 100 and 200 models the 101 and 201 systems provide a number of internal improvements. “In order to remain a leader in this field we are constantly developing the technology and can now offer an improved product to our customers. Hamish went on to say that these changes were the result of work done on their “top of the range” ECHOplus system, primarily designed for the scientific market. It is through work with various scientific institutes that Seatronics have been able to identify a number of improvements in the system and incorporate these into the seascan product range.
