Crowley Maritime Corporation christen its newest US-flag tanker, 'Florida', at Aker Philadelphia Shipyard. More than 100 guests, including Chairman, President and CEO Tom Crowley; friends and employees from Crowley; representatives from the customer, shipyard, and labor along with other industry dignitaries, gathered to celebrate the vessel’s christening, which was performed by Nina Glende Johnsen, the wife of Aker President and CEO Kristian Rokke. Crowley Maritime Re-enters Jones Act Tankship Market

Crowley Maritime purchases two new 'Jones Act' tankers from Aker Philadelphia Shipyard. Crowley Maritime Corporation’s petroleum and chemical transportation group announce that it has purchased two new Jones Act tankers, the Pennsylvania and the Florida , from Aker Philadelphia Shipyard ASA. The tankers, scheduled for delivery in September 2012 and March 2013, mark Crowley’s re-entry into the Jones Act tanker market since its last tanker was retired in 2011. The tankers will be capable of carrying nearly 330,000 barrels of a wide variety of petroleum products and chemicals.

Type Approval for Hyde Guardian BWT System

Hyde Marine, Inc., a Lamor Group company, has received final Type Approval for the Hyde Guardian Ballast Water Management System. The Type Approval Certificate has been issued by Lloyd’s Register on behalf of the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency to confirm compliance with guidelines contained in IMO resolution MEPC.174(58). This approval covers the complete range of Hyde Guardian systems with capacities from 60 m3/hr to 6000 m3/hr, allowing Hyde to satisfy the requirements of all vessel types and sizes.
