Polarcus Gets West Africa Contract

Polarcus Limited  has announced it has received a letter of intent for a 3D marine seismic project in West Africa. The client was not disclosed by the Dubai-based seismic vessel operator, who will utilise its RightBAND technique for the broadband data acquisition. The project is of two weeks duration and will form part of the Company's West African campaign during Q4 2015. The new contract is the company’s fourth announced this month with new projects won in Brazil, Australia and Myanmar. Polarcus is an innovative marine geophysical company with a pioneering environmental agenda, delivering high-end towed streamer data acquisition and imaging services from Pole to Pole.

TGS Signs Vessel Charter Deal with Polarcus for 2016

TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company ASA (TGS) signs letter of intent (LoI) for charter of an estimated six months of 3d vessel capacity from Oslo-listed seismic vessel operator Polarcus. TGS intends to charter a vessel from Polarcus in 2016 to acquire a number of individual projects in line with its 2016 investment plan. Under the terms of the LOI, TGS will offer Polarcus the Right of First Refusal (ROFR) for the charter of 3D vessel capacity to acquire discrete projects of up to 10,000 sq. km in total. Commenting on the agreement, Rod Starr, CEO Polarcus, said: "This is a positive LOI for Polarcus and we believe a testament to the strong operational performance of our fleet for TGS on both the recent project in the US and current program in Norway.

Dolphin Reports Improved Operating Margins

Seismic vessel operator Dolphin Group AS reported its financial results for the third quarter 2013. Atle Jacobsen, Dolphin Group CEO commented, "Dolphin delivered solid operating margins for third quarter with EBIT of 25%, driven by improved contract prices and high vessel efficiency. As for the entire seismic industry, Dolphin also experienced low Multi-Client late sales and a competitive market for new projects in the quarter. The seismic market has recently been challenging and will impact our Q4 2013 and Q1 2014.

Marlink Secures Contract Renewal with Fugro-Geoteam

Marlink, the global provider of maritime satellite communications, has recently extended its contract with seismic vessel operator Fugro-Geoteam for a further five years. As part of the latest agreement, Marlink will supply its innovative Sealink(TM) VSAT service to the seismic vessels via Marlink's Eik teleport in Norway, providing 512 Kbps of bandwidth and 10-15 telephone lines for each vessel. "For safe, efficient and reliable operation of our vessels worldwide, it's important to have satellite communications solutions that we can trust.
