MAN Okays Total Lubmarine's VLSFO Fuel

Total Lubmarine, part of Total Lubricants,  has received a No Objection Letter (NOL) from leading engine manufacturer MAN Energy Solutions, for the use of Talusia on MAN B&W 2-stroke engines operating on fuels with less than 0.5%S Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO).Total Lubmarine had developed the set of marine lubricants designed to work with a range of low sulfur fuels, as the new emissions standards designed to curb pollution from ships by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) set to be implemented on January 1, 2020.Talusia Universal was tested on an 8S50MC-C MAN B&W engine operating on VLSFO (max 0.5%S) to  achieve its NOL.

IMO 2020: More than Fuel Choice

With a year to go before the implementation of the 2020 Sulfur Cap, few topics will be higher on the list of priorities for shipowners than complying with Annex VI of the IMO MARPOL Convention (2008). IMO 2020: The Future of Fuel

There has been little reaction by way of statements or position papers from marine fuel lubricant manufacturers to the IMO MEPC70 proposals for a global fuel sulfur content cap of 0.5 percent by 2020 but they are fully aware of the implications of the proposed regulations and are taking what could be termed a ‘pragmatic approach’ to fuel regulation compliance. Total Lubmarine Launches Talusia Optima

Lubricants supplier Total Lubmarine has launched Talusia Optima, a new cylinder lube oil compatible with high sulphur heavy fuel oils and ultra-low sulphur distillate fuels. According to the manufacturer, the new lube has been developed to simplify the management of vessels trading globally in and out of Emission Control Areas (ECAs), and offers the potential to reduce lube consumption and help extend engine life. Talusia Optima is suitable for use with fuels ranging in sulphur content of between 0 and 3.5 percent. Talusia Optima has received a no objection letter from major OEM Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD) for the use of the product across its two-stroke engine ranges.

Total Talusia Optima Receives Approval From Win GD

Lubricants supplier Total Lubmarine has received a no objection letter from Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD) for the use of its cylinder lubricant Talusia Optima with the whole range of Wärtsilä engines. Talusia Optima is a new cylinder lube oil (CLO) suitable for use with fuels ranging in sulphur content from 0-3.5 percent. The product is currently being tested on a range of ships and is expected to be brought to market later in 2016. Talusia Optima completed over 4,300 hours of validation tests on-board a mega boxship deployed on Asia-Europe liner routes.

Total Lubmarine Introduces ECA Compliant Lubricant

Global marine lubricant provider Total Lubmarine has introduced TALUSIA LS 25, a low alkaline lubricant specifically designed for slow speed two stroke engines running distillate fuels with 0.1% sulphur content. The move comes as the shipping industry adapts to comply with the European 0.1% sulphur cap which enters into effect on January 1, 2015. TALUSIA LS 25 will be available from late October in major shipping hubs worldwide. Total Lubmarine Celebrates Naming of Trafuco 7

Marine lubricant provider Total Lubmarine has welcomed the naming of the newest addition to its fleet, Trafuco 7. The naming ceremony for the newly-built vessel took place at The Port of Antwerp, in Belgium, in front of 80 guests. Trafuco 7 is a 795m3 capacity barge divided into six compartments that will transport Total Lubmarine’s oils, system oils and trunk piston engine oils, including the Talusia, Aurelia, Atlanta and Disola ranges, with a minimum order of 2,000 liters per grade.

Safety, Savings and Simplicity Cited as Key Cylinder Oils Benefits

Roughly nine out of 10 shipowners and managers using single oils believe that the main benefits are the assurance of safety in operations, direct savings in lubricant handling and appreciable simplicity for crew operations, according to an independent poll carried out on behalf of marine lubricants provider Total Lubmarine. Lubmarine Launches Three New Barges

Total Lubmarine strengthened its global service offering to the shipping industry with the introduction of three brand-new barges at the port of Singapore. The 700 dwt double-hulled barges – Marine Champion, Marine Prosper, and Marine Talent - have a cargo load capacity of 860 cu m for bulk and packaged lubricants, and are fitted with state-of-the-art firefighting equipment. They will be operated by Lubmarine’s logistics partner, Singapore-based Ocean Tankers, which operates a diverse fleet of support vessels and is a specialist in ship-to-ship transfers.

Lubmarine Expands With New Copenhagen Facility

International marine lubricant supplier Total Lubmarine has extended its global network of service and supply centres with the opening of a dedicated commercial and supply hub in Copenhagen, Denmark. Already a significant player in the Nordic region, especially in Norway and Denmark, Lubmarine is now able to offer ship owners and operators an international-class local sales and logistical service in the Danish capital.
