BV, Russian Register Sign Agreement

Bureau Veritas (BV) and Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) signed a three-year co-operation agreement covering the development of joint guidelines for LNG carriers and Offshore Floating Production Units (FPUs). Pierre Besse, Vice-President Research and Development for BV, says, “We are delighted to have reached this agreement with RS, which will greatly facilitate research into two technologically challenges areas of shipping. The agreement is based on the exchange of information for the mutual benefit of BV and RS, and for the maritime industry generally. "We will now be able to combine the particular strengths of the BV and RS rules, to produce definitive guidelines which draw on the experience and expertise of both organizations. Dr.

RINA and RS Strengthen Cooperation

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and Italian classification society RINA signed a new agreement on cooperation in performing surveys of ships and floating structures under construction and in service, as well as certification of materials and products. The agreement has significantly broadened the scope of existing cooperation, which began in June 1979. RINA and RS will now cooperate in the surveying of both seagoing ships and floating structures as well as offering dual classification at the request of shipowners, and also certification of materials and products outside the marine field. The agreement was signed by Sergey Koshchy, Senior Vice-General Director of RS, and Roberto Cazzulo, Deputy Director Marine Division of RINA.
