APL Rolls out China Bangkok Express Service

APL has announced the launch of the China Bangkok Express (CBX) service, a new shortsea service that directly links South China and Thailand each week. Characterised by competitive transit times, the CBX service promises the industry’s fastest connection from Nansha to Bangkok in four days. Also designed to transport special cargo, this service offers reefer and breakbulk solutions to facilitate these shipments. Shippers with cargo that are destined beyond Asia may also tap onto APL's global services network at the trans-shipment hubs of Hong Kong and Chiwan in South China for further connectivity. The CBX service will commence sailing on 18 April 2018 from Hong Kong, and call at the ports of Hong Kong, Shekou, Nansha, Bangkok and Laem Chabang.

Damen Signs MOU with Sydney City Marine

Damen Shipyards Group and Sydney City Marine have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining the future cooperation of the two companies concerning the repair and maintenance of Damen-built vessels in Australia and New Zealand. The MOU lays the groundwork for expansion of Damen’s Services network in Australia. Detailing the future working relationship between the two companies, the MOU’s principle agreement states that Sydney City Marine will perform repair and maintenance works of Damen vessels.

Raytheon Company announced the launch of its new subsidiary, Raytheon Anschuetz USA LLC, located in San Diego, Calif. According to the company, Raytheon Anschuetz USA LLC aims to reinforce customer care and support for Raytheon Anschütz navigation systems in the United States for commercial ship owners and shipyards as well as government entities, including the Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, Navy and Army. “In January 2012, Raytheon Anschütz returned to the U.S. navigation systems market with the establishment of a San Diego-based regional sales office. Retrofit Solutions for Exhaust Gas and Water Cleaning

Upcoming environmental regulations will affect existing vessels, and as a consequence there is a growing demand for exhaust gas cleaning and ballast water treatment systems. Retrofitting both scrubbers and ballast water management systems is – or will soon be – required for many ships to comply with regulations. There are retrofit solutions available across all ship types, from cruise vessels to merchant and offshore ships. Space requirement is usually the most critical factor when planning and executing a retrofit project but Wärtsilä has found solutions to the challenge.

GE Marine Sell 3 Marine Diesel Engines at Korea Expo

At the presently running Kormarine International Shipbuilding and Marine Equipment Exhibition in Busan, South Korea, GE Marine say they have sold three 16V250 marine diesel engines: 2 engines to Dongwon Industries, one of the world's largest tuna fishery companies; and one engine to Hansung Enterprises, a leading Korean seafood and fishery company. The GE Marine engines will power 80-meter-long tuna purse seiners. The engines are IMO (International Maritime Organization) Tier II and KRS (Korean Register of Shipping) certified and scheduled for commissioning in early 2014. Rolls-Royce Opens New Marice Service Facility

Rolls-Royce, a global power systems company, has opened a new Marine Service facility in Guangzhou, to better serve its growing customer base in southern China. Rolls-Royce is expanding its marine services network in China to deal with increased customer demand. The new facility in Guangzhou joins those already in operation in Hong Kong, Dalian and Shanghai.
