Putin to Discuss Black Sea Grain Deal with Turkey's Erdogan

The Kremlin said on Friday that it expected President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan to discuss the implementation of a deal on Ukrainian grain exports, which both have criticized, when they meet in Uzbekistan next week.Putin said on Wednesday that Russia and the developing world had been "cheated", and that he would seek amendments to the terms of the deal, which expires in November, before it is extended."A conversation between Putin and Erdogan is possible and necessary.

"Each vessel was welcomed individually," Captain Roman Martov told RIA Novosti. The naval squadron, including the Varyag missile cruiser, three Udaloy class destroyers and three fleet support ships, will join 16 Chinese surface ships for drills in the Yellow Sea between Aril 22 and 27. "The exercises will involve several simulated missions, including the rescue of a hijacked ship, the escort of a commercial vessel, and the defense a convoy from air and sea attacks," a Russian defense ministry spokesman said.

Four Russian warships from the Pacific Fleet, as well as support vessels, warplanes, helicopters and naval infantry, have left Vladivostok for a joint exercise with Chinese naval forces, a spokesman for the fleet said. China, Russia Plan Naval War Exercise

China says it will join Russia in naval war games starting next month in the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea. The official Xinhua News Agency quoted Defense Ministry spokesman Yang Yujun as saying that the exercise will begin in late April and run into May. The specific locations were not disclosed. Yang says the joint exercise is aimed at improving cooperation and ensuring stability in the Asia-Pacific region. China and Russia have conducted several joint military exercises since 2005 within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The group also includes the Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and aims to promote regional cooperation and check U.S. influence.
