Wagenborg Installs Shore Power Connection on Kroonborg Vessel

Wagenborg Offshore has installed and commissioned a shore connection system on the Kroonborg walk-to-work (W2W) vessel in collaboration with NAM/Shell UK, and the support of Dutch province of North Holland.The shore power system was developed and engineered by Dutch company Eekels Technology.Additionally, Eekels Technology, in partnership with the Port of Den Helder, is advancing a hydrogen shore power generator project in cooperation with the Port of Harlingen and Groningen Seaports.The hydrogen generator is set to become operational by the end of 2023.

Equinor, Shell Extend Offshore Vessel Charters with DOF

Offshore vessel owner DOF said Tuesday it had won vessel charter extensions with Norway's Equinor and Shell in the UK.Equinor has exercised options to extend the firm periods of the contracts for 2008-built Skandi Mongstad PSV for three years, and 2010-built Skandi Vega AHTS vessel for two years. Both vessels have worked continuously with Equinor since delivery from the yard in 2008 and 2010, respectively.Also, Shell UK Ltd has exercised an option to extend the contract for the platform supply vessel Skandi Kvitsøy for one year firm, from end March 2022.Furthermore, DOF's subsidiary DOF Rederi has sold Skandi Rona, a platform supply vessel built in 2002, with delivery in April. DOF did not share the financial details.

Allseas' giant Pioneering Spirit heavy lift vessel has completed its first decommissioning job of summer 2020, with a single-lift removal of Shell UK’s 17,000-tonne Brent Alpha platform from the North Sea. UK-based crew transfer specialist High Speed Transfers (HST) announced that its second new high-speed crew transfer vessel HST Sofia will be contracted by Shell to support its exploration program in the Black Sea commencing March 2019.The FCS 2710 vessel, built by Dutch shipbuilder Damen, will be trialed by HST to undertake oil and gas crew transfers to support the Noble Globetrotter II drill ship. Shell Netherlands CEO Christens Wagenborg's W2W Vessel

The second Walk to Work vessel in the fleet of Wagenborg Offshore was unveiled on the Nieuwediepkade in the port of Den Helder. The Walk to Work Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel Kasteelborg was christened by Mrs. Marjan van Loon, CEO Shell Netherlands.Kasteelborg will serve as standby and support vessel in collaboration with the Kroonborg, which was commissioned almost three years ago, with maintenance of the unmanned platforms on the southern North Sea.Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM) and Shell UK Exploration & Production (Shell UK) have signed a 6-year agreement with Wagenborg Offshore for the deployment of this second 'Walk-to-Work Vessel' (W2W).The Kasteelborg is similar in size to Kroonborg, but her activities are different in nature.

Wagenborg awarded Barge Master a contract for a second 3D motion compensated crane for its new walk-to-work vessel Kasteelborg. The first motion compensated crane on the Kroonborg has increased the workability from approximately 180 to 330 days per year. “The crane works quite happily in three meter seas,” said Haije Stigter, former program manager at ONEgas/Shell, notes - adding that it “works like a dream.”The Barge Master Crane, as configured for the Kroonborg, makes it possible to continue safe and stable crane operations even in the North Sea’s famously rough conditions.

Awilco Drilling Signs Contract With Shell

Aberdeen-based Awilco Drilling said today that it had tied up a contract with Shell UK for the decommissioning of 18 wells. "Awilco Drilling PLC is pleased to confirm that a contract has been signed with Shell UK Limited for the provision of WilPhoenix for a decommissioning program of 18 firm wells plus options totalling a further 8 wells," said a press release from the company. The firm 18 well program has an estimated duration of 330 days and is scheduled to commence around 1 September 2018. The contract value for the firm term is estimated at USD 38.3 million. WilPhoenix is one of Awilco Drilling's two Enhanced Pacesetter semi-submersibles and is equipped for drilling in water depths up to 1,200 ft.

iSURVEY Bags rig positioning, surveying contract with Shell

iSURVEY has secured a non exclusive call-off contract with Shell UK Ltd, Shell NAM, Norske Shell and Shell E&P Ireland for the provision of rig positioning and surveying services. With an effective date of 1 January 2017, the three year contract, which has the option of up to two, one year extensions, will see iSURVEY provide non exclusive rig and surface positioning services, subsurface positioning and dimensional control and platform surveys to Shell’s mobile offshore drilling units. GAC, Valero Ink Terminal & Marine Services Deal

GAC UK has signed a three-year terminal and marine services deal with Valero Logistics UK Ltd. Under the agreement, from 1 February 2017, GAC UK will manage and support the discharge of 12-14MT of clean petroleum products each from up to 180 tankers a year at the ports of Cardiff and Plymouth. On 1 April, its raft of jetty operation services for the energy giant will be extended to include Avonmouth. GAC UK will provide a range of terminal services including secure and safe manning of berths, ship/shore safety checks and connecting shore cargo lines to vessels’ manifolds. It will also conduct value adding cargo sampling at three stages: from the vessels’ tanks before discharge; from shore lines during the operation; and from the trucks.

JF Subsea Inspects Shell Oil Rigs with New ROV technique

James Fisher Subsea (JF Subsea), a world leading subsea services division of James Fisher Marine Services (JFMS), has reduced inspection downtime to 2% for Shell UK, through the innovative use of asset-based remotely operated vehicles (ABROVs) on oil rig inspection programmes in the North Sea. Traditionally, oil rig inspections are undertaken using a dedicated remotely operated vehicle support vessel (ROVSV), on which an ROV is secured. To remove the need of a ROVSV and the hazards involved with securing an ROV to the offshore platform, JF Subsea provided Shell UK with a gravity-based ABROV system. Engine Overhaul Aboard North Sea FPSO

Bluewater-owned offshore floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel Haewene Brim has undergone an engine overhaul at the hands of a team of diesel power specialist Royston Limited. The 252m, 103,000dwt FPSO, powered by main generating sets consisting of four 5.2MW Wartsila W46 medium speed diesel engines, has operated in the Pierce Field in the UK sector of the North Sea since 1999 on behalf of Shell UK Exploration and Production, and last year was also linked to the Lundin-operated Brynhild field in the Norwegian sector.

Shell Charters Regalia in 2016

Prosafe announced it has signed a contract worth approximately $24 million with Shell U.K. Limited for the provision of the Regalia semi-submersible accommodation vessel at the Brent C platform in the U.K. sector of the North Sea. The short duration contract commencing in the second quarter of 2016 will provide dynamically positioned (NMD3) gangway connection for the duration of the project. The contract award follows the Regalia recently completing an assignment for Shell at the Shearwater platform. The Singapore-flagged Regalia was built in 1985 at GVA Sweden to an enhanced GVA 3000 design.

Zamakona Delivers New Ship to Atlantic Offshore

Norwegian shipping company Atlantic Offshore A.S. took delivery of new offshore multipurpose vessel Ocean Falcon from Zamakona Yards at the builder’s facilities in Pasajes, San Sebastián. Ocean Falcon is the third and final vessels in a series built by Zamakona for Atlantic Offshore A.S., all similarly with Havyard HY820 design, but with a few technical variations between them. Its sisters, Ocean Osprey and Ocean Marlin, were the first and second of the contract, respectively.

Technip Wins Subsea Contract on Triton FPSO

Technip has been awarded a brownfield subsea contract for the Triton(1) floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, operated by Dana Petroleum, located in the central North Sea. This FPSO vessel is located 193 kilometers east of Aberdeen, at a water depth of approximately 90 meters. It produces oil and gas from different fields - Bittern, Guillemot West and North West, Clapham, Pict and Saxon, which are tied back to the FPSO vessel via subsea facilities comprising a series of pipelines and manifolds.  additional installation, repair and maintenance works. Technip’s operating center in Aberdeen, United Kingdom (UK), will execute this contract which is a continuation of similar work successfully completed in 2014.

Shell: UK Should Reduce North Sea Oil Tax

The British government should review a supplementary tax charge on North Sea oil producers as it has made the operation of some fields unrealistic, Shell Chief Executive Ben van Beurden said on Thursday. "It needs to be looked at as the tax position is hindering viability," he told reporters at a conference in London. Atlantic Offshore Rescue Secures Long Term Charter

Aberdeen-based standby vessel operator Atlantic Offshore Rescue has secured a five-year charter with five, one year options to extend with Shell UK to support operations in the Gannet, Annasuria and the Dana Petroleum Triton Asset in the central North Sea. Ocean Osprey, a brand new Class A tanker assist, rescue and standby ship will be used to provide emergency recovery, rescue cover, tanker assistance and general field support in offshore operations. The vessel is the first of a new H820 design from Havyard Ship Design and was developed in close collaboration with Atlantic Offshore.

Shell Advances Peterhead Clean Energy Project

Shell has signed an agreement with the U.K. Government to progress the Peterhead Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project to the next phase of design. The project, led by Shell, with strategic support from SSE, owners of the Peterhead gas power station in Aberdeenshire, aims to capture10 million metric tons of CO2 over 10 years. This will generate enough clean electricity to power the equivalent of 500,000 homes a year. If successful, the project will represent the first industrial-scale application of CCS technology at a gas power station anywhere in the world.

Double Triumph for Stork Technical Services

Stork Technical Services, a global provider of knowledge-based asset integrity management services for the oil and gas, chemical and power sectors, won two awards at this year’s U.K. Oil and Gas Industry Safety Awards. Marc Brankin, Scaffold Chargehand for Stork won The Most Promising Individual category. Ocean Installer Awarded Contract with Shell U.K.

Shell U.K.Ltd. awarded Ocean Installer a contract for umbilical installation at the Bittern field in the U.K. sector of the North Sea. The scope of the work is to install two new static umbilicals of 20.7km and 1.8km. This includes pre-lay engineering; survey and confirmation of all routes and subsea work; monitoring and testing of umbilicals during transportation and installation; umbilical installation, including building of crossings and installation of protection mattresses; burial of umbilicals and post installation testing.
