Crew Transfer Firm OceanXpress Taps Peterson for Agency Services

Energy logistics provider Peterson has won a logistics contract with OceanXpress, a recently formed joint venture between Dutch companies Damen and Ampelmann.Damen Shipyards and offshore gangway specialist Ampelmann launched the joint venture last month to provide offshore crew change solutions in the North Sea area.Now, Peterson will deliver ship agency services for OceanXpress' Aqua Helix vessel, which will use the Port of Den Helder as its main port of operation.Mark Hol, Business Unit Manager at Peterson, said: “We’re delighted to  welcome the Aqua Helix to the Port of Den Helder and be no

New LNG Bunker Barge Planned for Port of Tacoma

Puget LNG and GAC Bunker Fuels have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) marine fuel from Puget LNG’s terminal to GAC’s customers in the Pacific Northwest.When the Tacoma LNG Terminal becomes operational in the second quarter of 2021, it will be the first such terminal on North America’s west coast providing direct shoreside loading access for a bunker barge.GAC Bunker Fuels, a division of the Dubai-based GAC Group, will issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a Jones Act-compliant LNG bunker barge to be constructed…

GAC Angola Renews Ship Agency Deal with POSH Semco

Offshore marine services provider PACC Offshore Services Holdings Ltd. GAC Greece Joins Green Award Foundation

GAC Greece has become the latest GAC company to sign up to the Green Award (GA) Foundation’s scheme, underlining its commitment to environmental issues. Under the scheme, GA-certified ships that use GAC's ship agency services at Greek ports can claim a 10% discount on the company’s agency fees. By joining the incentive scheme, GAC Greece demonstrated its commitment to applying and promoting measures to encourage green shipping. The Green Award Foundation is a non-profit, independent international platform for the maritime industry to stimulate safer, cleaner shipping by supporting vessels that go beyond legally required standards. Participating ports and maritime service providers provide incentives for vessels through the scheme, to achieve a safer, greener and sustainable future.

G2 Ocean Names Wallem

Wallem Ship Agency has been appointed by G2 Ocean to provide Ship Agency services to all their vessels calling in ports in SE Asia. The agreement has been made with Wallem Ship Agency in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, and Myanmar. This news comes after Wallem was appointed by G2 Ocean back in July of 2017 for calls to China, totaling an estimated number of 700 calls per year. Managing Director of Wallem Ship Agency Dickson Chin says, “We are delighted to extend our relationship with G2 Ocean to handle their vessels calling throughout Southeast Asia. Our teams are very experienced in handling multi-purpose vessels and have done extensive preparation work for these calls which commenced at the end of 2017.

CMA CGM, GAC Ink Agency, Service Deal

The Scandinavian arm of the world’s third largest container shipping company CMA CGM has signed an agency, husbandry and NOx reporting agreement with GAC Norway for its ships calling at the port of Oslo. The CMA CGM Group has a fleet of 470 vessels serving 400 of the world's 521 commercial ports. In 2015, it transported an estimated volume of 13 million TEUs and vessels from its fleet make 52 calls per annum to Oslo to load/discharge a wide range of goods carried in containers from around the world. Its weekly service links the Scandinavian ports of Oslo, Moss, Brevik and Gothenburg with the CMA CGM hub in Rotterdam, and beyond to its global network.

How did you find a career in the maritime industry? As a consequence of my father´s dedication to the industry, as founder of a shipping agency in the early eighties as well as partner in a large shipping company and shipyard´s ownership, I grew up in this atmosphere and orientated my academic training towards being able to continuing what he and his business partners created and developed. Although I did start my professional career dealing with other type of businesses within my family, the core root of our family wealth has always been in the maritime industry.

Höegh, Wallem Sign Ship Management Deal

Höegh Autoliners signed a nine vessel ship management deal with Wallem Ship Management yesterday at the Höegh headquarters in Oslo, Norway. The ship management agreement cements a deal between the companies, with Wallem delivering technical and crew management to nine PCTCs from its Singapore base. Wallem broadened its ship management business to Singapore in 2013, complementing the company’s existing ship agency services in the city state, providing an attractive option for ship owners looking for access to Singapore’s maritime business advantages.

GAC to Serve Bibby Offshore U.K. Fleet

Bibby Offshore U.K. Ltd signed a nonexclusive ship agency services contract with GAC covering all ports in the U.K. and making the Group their first choice of provider elsewhere worldwide. Aberdeen-based Bibby Offshore U.K. Ltd is a subsidiary of the Bibby Line Group, providing solutions to the oil and gas sector operating in the North Sea. The deal with GAC has been signed just as Bibby Offshore U.K. embarks on a five-year growth plan that will see the expansion of its fleet of offshore construction vessels and ROV systems.

WSS Japan to manage Harmony Cruise port calls

Harmony Cruise, Korea’s newest cruise operator, has chosen Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) to provide ships agency services at ports on its Japan itinerary. Harmony Cruise was launched in February 2012 by Seoul-based Polaris Shipping, offering a variety of three and four-day cruises in the South Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Russian markets. Its Japanese itinerary will include calls at Tokyo, Yokohama, Kobe, Osaka, Hakata, Nagasaki and Kagoshima, representing ship’s agency services for WSS.

GAC India Opens Pipavav Office

Branch will coordinate support for Mumbai High oil field. GAC India has opened a new office in Pipavav to cater to the needs of the growing number of vessels calling at the port and principals using it as a base for operations in the Mumbai High oil field, off the country’s west coast. With this expansion, GAC has a total of 27 offices in 22 locations across India. The new office at the Gujurati port is fully licensed, equipped and manned to provide a wide range of ship agency services and to handle cargo shipments, spare parts, customs clearance, and much more.

GAC Russia Expands Portfolio

GAC has marked ten years in Russia with an announcement of plans to develop enhanced marine services to support offshore energy projects in Russian waters. The company opened its first office in the key Black Sea port of Novorossiysk in 2001 to attend to tankers at the newly opened CPC-R terminal, later extending its ship agency services to Sheskharis oil terminal and the dry cargo port of Novorossiysk. Offices in Moscow, St Petersburg, Murmansk and Taman followed. Today, the company employs 35 personnel and has attended to more than 2000 port calls.

HITS Selects AMOS for Six Ships

Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi Tbk., (HITS)  Indonesia to supply AMOS Business Suite solutions for six vessels, comprising four product tankers, a chemical tanker and a dry bulker, as well as the office site. There is an option for another seven ships, based on the successful implementation on the initial six. The project was officially kicked off June 2, 2008, and entailed a two-week Requirement Study into PT. Humpuss’s Business Processes, Work Procedures and Requirements Study for each department.

Damen Delivers Crew Boat

After successful seatrials at the shipyard in Gorinchem, Damen have delivered the first of three new Crew Boats to Kanoo Marine (a division of Kanoo Shipping Agencies). The first-of-class has meanwhile arrived in the Gulf and will shortly commence service. The second vessel is just about to leave the shipyard and the third will undergo trials in June. Kanoo Shipping Agencies (part of Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo - www.ybakanoo.com) is a longtime customer of Damen. The company provides among others a network of ship agency’s services throughout the Gulf, with fast crew boats currently operating out of Ras Tanura and Juaymah (Saudi Arabia) and Fujairah (UAE). The new crew boats are based on the standard Damen Stan Tender 1905 design, of which already 3 units are in operation with other owners.

Chevron Renews GAC Contract

Gulf Agency Company Ltd. (GAC), a global provider of shipping, logistics and marine services, announced the contract renewal with Chevron Shipping Company LLC (CSC), the fleet subsidiary of Chevron Corporation. Under the continuing arrangement, GAC remains CSC’s sole provider of tanker agency services worldwide. The new contract was signed by GAC Group Executive Chairman Björn Engblom and CSC Vice-President & General Manager Marine Transportation Alexander Walker at CSC’s headquarters in San Ramon, California on 1 June 2006. CSC has a long-standing relationship with GAC, going back to the early 1970s when GAC was a growing force in ship agency services in the Middle East.

GAC Launches Global Logistics Service

GAC Group (GAC) has launched its new global supply chain management service to meet the demand for fast and efficient delivery of ship spares and marine parts. By leveraging on the group's combined infrastructure and core expertise in logistics, ship agency and marine services, GAC has created GAC Marine Logistics Inc (GML), a company dedicated to offering ship owners and spares suppliers an integrated and seamless door-to-vessel solution. "GAC has traditionally been involved in the delivery of ship spares since 1956 as part of our ship agency services. Now with GML, we have extended our service all the way from pick-up at the ship suppliers' door to delivery aboard ship," says Chris Steibelt, Managing Director, GAC Marine Logistics Inc.
