MacGregor Cargo Handling for HL Newbuilds

MacGregor has received an order worth USD 21 million for optimised cargo handling systems for five 10,500 TEU container ships currently under construction at South Korean shipyard Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries for German operator Hapag-Lloyd. The ships are under construction at South Korean shipyard Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and are being built for German operator Hapag-Lloyd. They are planned for delivery between October 2016 and May 2017 and will primarily be deployed on South American routes. "Cargo system flexibility during loading and unloading operations, in combination with attaining a vessel's actual payload capacity, is crucial for maximising a ship's revenue and long-term profitability," says Tommi Keskilohko, Director at MacGregor's Customer Solutions.

Ship Agents, Sino-Global, Cut Losses in Fiscal 2013

Sino-Global Shipping America, Ltd. (Nasdaq: SINO), an international provider of shipping agency services, today announced its selected financial results for fiscal year ended June 30, 2013. Revenues decreased by 48.85% to US$17.3 million, from US$33.9 million in the fiscal year ended June 30, 2012. Gross margin increased to 11.13% in the current fiscal year compared to 7.96% in the prior fiscal year. Total general and administrative expenses were reduced by $1.36 million during the year, representing a decrease of 25.93% compared to the last fiscal year. Net loss was US$2.58 million compared to net loss of US$2.81 million in fiscal 2012. Basic and diluted losses per share were US$0.38 and US$0.61 for fiscal 2013 and fiscal 2012, respectively.

Intellocorp, Sea-Flex Partner to Launch Software Solution

Intellocorp LLC has partnered with the Danish shipowner Sea-Flex to launch together IntelloShip and SeaPlan in January 2012. “IntelloShip is a software that has been needed in the maritime industry for a long time, the added value of IntelloShip is significant and will add transparency, timeliness as well as cost savings,” said Shannon McKee, former VP of Ship Revenue a division of Norwegian Cruise Lines, currently President of Access Cruises. Combined, IntelloShip and SeaPlan give an overview of the daily operations and provide executives with a tool for monitoring the actual performance of the company and to make value-added decisions. Additionally, both management solutions come as Software as a Service (SaaS) or as an On-Premise-Software solution.
