Damen Delivers Newbuild Dredger to Indonesian Customer
Dutch shipbuilder Damen has delivered the first-of-its-series Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) 600 to an Indonesian customer, PT. Dua Samudera Perkasa.The vessel was sold immediately after completion at the Damen Dredging Equipment yard. It form part of a complete dredging package, which includes ship transportation, training of the crew on location as well as dredge spares to facilitate maintenance duties.The CSD600, which is being shipped as deck cargo at present, is a brand-new type of dismountable dredgerâŚ
Future Fuels: Stena Germanica makes run on 'Blue Methanol'
In 2015 Stena Line converted the 240-m Stena Germanica to become the worldâs first methanol powered ferry. Fast forward six years and the Swedish ferry company has achieved another world first, powering Stena Germanica with methanol recycled from residual steel gases powering the ship this week on its trip from Sweden to Germany.Dubbed âBlue Methanolâ, the fuel is recycled from residual steel gases, a by product of the steel production industry and helps reduce the ferryâs reliance on diesel."It is exciting to be part of our sustainable journey and try out another new sustainable fuel.
IN THE YARD: Designing Ship Build and Transport Cradles
Transportation cradles are a key component in the build, transportation and launch of a ship and a suitable design can be fundamental in the success of these operations. Throughout their use they will support the various blocks and completed ship during construction, act as the interface between the vessel and SPMTâs (Self Propelled Modular Transporters) or barge, and ultimately support the ship during float off operations. The cradles are possibly the only item of equipment that will see the ship from very early stages of construction through until she is floating in the water.

Daily Maersk Extends Promise to Indonesia, Thailand
Maersk Line is extending its total container ship transportation time promise to six more routes: from Jakarta (Indonesia) or Laem Chabang (Thailand). The routes are to Bremerhaven (Germany), Rotterdam (The Netherlands) or Felixstowe (UK). (Bookings for this service will commence 8th October 2012). With gate-in any day of the week and two weekly cut-offs, Maersk Line are promising to transport goods on these routes in 31 days. The clock starts at cut-off and stops when goods are available at the final container yard. The promise is absolute, backed with the same monetary guarantees offered on Daily Maersk. It has been a year since Maersk Line introduced Daily Maersk.

Aker Yards Wins Unique Design Solution Wins DOF Contract
Aker Yards has been awarded a contract with DOF ASA to build an innovative LNG-powered platform supply vessel. The vessel is designed and equipped with the newest and most innovative environmentally friendly equipment and solutions. After delivery from Aker Yards in in 2010, the vessel will operate on charter for StatoilHydro ASA. The selected solutions and engine systems for the new and modern platform supply vessel (PSV) are a response to the focus on more environmental cautious ship transportation of various bulk cargos, liquids and equipment to and from offshore locations world wide. The vessel will be equipped with duel fuel engines able to run on both LNG and ordinary marine diesel.
