Wärtsilä Propulsion Packages for China's New Rescue Vessels

Wärtsilä has been contracted by the People’s Republic of China’s Communications Import & Export Corporation to supply the main propulsion system for four new ocean rescue vessels. The ships are being built at the CSSC Guangzhou Huang-Pu Shipbuilding Company Ltd shipyard in China, and are scheduled for delivery at the end of 2014. The order was signed in the second quarter of 2013 and is part of a series of contracts covering a total of 22 vessels. Seaspan Signs Contract with STX Offshore & Shipbuilding

Seaspan Marine entered into a technology support agreement with STX Offshore and Shipbuilding Company Ltd. This partnership will optimize Vancouver Shipyard’s planned facilities upgrades for the Federal Government’s recently awarded $8 billion Non-Combat National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS) program. STX is one of the leading shipbuilders in the world and currently produces approximately 60 vessels per year with annual steel throughput over 700,000 tonnes. GE Shipping to Acquire Two New Tankers

Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd. has ordered two new building Long Range One (LR1) Product tankers from STX Shipbuilding Company Ltd., Korea. Great Eastern said the vessels, of around 74,500 dwt each, are due for delivery during the third quarter of 2008-09. With this order, the company's new building order book stands at nine tankers (4 LR1 product tankers and 5 MR product tankers) with an aggregate dwt of 0.52 million and 5 OSVs (4 AHTSVs and 1 PSV). The existing fleet of 74 vessels of the company includes 40 ships with an average age of 12.7 years and 34 offshore units and the order book comprises 12 vessels — seven tankers and five offshore supply vessels (OSVs). GE Shipping Acquires OSV

According to source, the Great Eastern Shipping Company on Monday took delivery of a newly built OSV named `Malaviya Twenty Five' from Bharati Shipyard Ltd. With this, the company's fleet now stands at 73 vessels - 40 ships and 33 offshore assets. The company has also signed a new building contract with Bharati Shipyard Ltd for a 140 T bollard pull anchor handling tug supply vessel with delivery expected by mid-2007. Apart from these, a modern Aframax crude carrier is due to join the company's fleet this month, the company said in a release. The company has also signed a contract with STX Shipbuilding Company Ltd, Korea for construction of 2 Long Range One (LR1) Product Tankers of 74,500 dwt each. source: Sify
