Bangladesh Shipping Corporation to Get $22.48 Million for Ship Hit by Missile in Ukraine

Insurers are about to pay state-owned Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) $22.48 million for its vessel that was hit by a missile during fighting in Ukraine, two officials involved said on Tuesday.The expected settlement is one of the first shipping claims to have been paid out since Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24 last year, in a conflict that has added tens of thousands of dollars to risk premiums for every voyage.An explosion on the night of March 2-3 last year rocked the Bangladesh-flagged Banglar Samriddhi and killed a crew member.

ABB's Shaft Generator Systems for COSCO's Ten Container Ships

ABB has secured a contract with the Chinese shipyard COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) Co. Ltd., to equip 10 China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited container vessels with its permanent magnet shaft generator systems. Due for delivery by the end of 2025, the order comprises systems for six 14000TEU vessels and four 16000TEU vessels."The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is introducing new regulatory standards – the Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) – which will come into force in January 2023.

MOL Orders Six LNG-fueled Vessels

Kelleher to Succeed Tivnan as Ardmore Shipping CFO

Tanker owner/operator Ardmore Shipping Corporation on Wednesday announced the planned departure of its current chief financial officer Paul Tivnan and appointment of new CFO Bart Kelleher, effective September 28, 2022.Anthony Gurnee, Ardmore's chief executive officer, said, Kelleher and Tivnan will overlap and work together from September 1 to "achieve an orderly and well-planned transition".Kelleher brings to the role more than 25 years of progressive experience in the maritime, finance, energy and industrials sectors, having most recently served as chief executive officer of Chembulk Tankers. The cranes will be operated by Cosco Shipping Bulk Co. Ltd. Norden Orders Two More Bulk Carriers at NACKS

Norden announced Tuesday it has added two bulk carriers to an existing newbuilding contract with shipbuilder Nantong Cosco Khi Ship Engineering Co. (NACKS), taking the total order to six vessels.The Danish shipowner said it has already sold two of the six vessels on sale and lease back terms, freeing up liquidity. The newbuilds are scheduled to be delivered from 2022.In addition, Norden said it bought a secondhand 2014 built Supramax bulk carrier scheduled to join its fleet in September.

Ardmore Rejects Hafnia's Takeover Bid

Wärtsilä will design and deliver a fully integrated main propulsion system for a new 8,200 dwt multipurpose cargo vessel being built for Mauritius Shipping Corporation Ltd (MSCL) at the Huanghai Shipyard in China.The newbuild is expected to commence commercial operations in 2022, replacing an existing vessel transporting goods and passengers between the Republic of Mauritius and the islands of Reunion, Agalega and Rodriquez.The order with Wärtsilä was placed in April 2020, and the equipment is scheduled for delivery to the yard in spring 2021.
