Sinha Takes Over as CMD of SCI
Capt. B.B. Sinha, Director (P&A) of The Shipping Corporation of India limited (SCI) has assumed the additional charge of the post of Chairman & Managing Director, SCI w.e.f. 01.01.2016 as per the Office Order received from the Ministry of Shipping till 31.03.2016 or until, further order whichever earlier. A. K. Gupta who was the Chairman and Managing Director of SCI superannuated on 31st December 2015.
SCI Back in the Black
The Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI), the largest Indian Shipping Company has reported a net profit of Rs. 49.50 crores for the quarter ended 30.06.2014. This is against the loss of Rs. 98.70 crores reported for the corresponding quarter last year. Despite the depressed market conditions, operationally SCI has performed better as can be seen from the profit from operations before other income & finance cost, which stood at Rs. 11.94 crores, as against the loss of Rs. 61.11 crores during the same period last year. SCI has also benefitted from cancellation of some of its shipbuilding contracts. The Company had also reported a profit of Rs.13.24 crores during the preceding quarter of Jan - Mar 2014 after five consecutive quarters of loss.
R. K. Sharma appointed PR Head of SCI
Consequent to the inter-divisional/departmental transfer, Ravindra Kumar Sharma, General Manager, has taken over the full-fledged charge of public relations department of the Shipping Corporation of India Limited w.e.f. 18th july, 2014. Mr. Sharma joined the Corporation in May 1981 and served in various departments in different capacities prior assuming the charge of the Public Relations Department. He will look after all internal and external communications and chalk out suitable media plans befetting the needs and corporate ideology/ strategy of the SCI. Shipping Corporation of India
Capt Sarveen Narula, Promoted as Director of SCI
Capt Sarveen Narula, has taken over as Director Liner and Passenger Services of The Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI) from 01 May 2014. Capt Sarveen Narula has more than 35 years of Maritime Experience both afloat and ashore. He has had more than 7 years command experience on several type of ships including Tankers, Bulk Carriers, Cargo ships and Container ships. He has extensive shore experience in various aspects of Liner and Passenger services which includes port and dock operations, Line Operations and Management, consortium formations, Hazardous cargo and break bulk shipments, Safety and Quality Management, Coastal Shipping, Cargo claims and claim Minimization.
