DP World Completes Integration of Unifeeder and Feedertech

Unifeeder Acquires Feedertech

Denmark’s Short-sea operator Unifeeder , part of the global port operator DP World, has acquired a 77% stake in The Feedertech Group, a Singapore-based feeder and shortsea operator.The Group’s Chairman, Ali Maghami, will retain the remaining 23% shareholding.Established in 2003, the Group operates two companies; Feedertech, which is a feedering service and Perma, a regional shortsea network. Both operate in the same market and connect the fast-growing trade route of Asia-Middle East via the Indian Subcontinent.The Group generates annual revenue of close to $200m from a diversified customer mix, calls at 50 ports and transports over 600k TEU annually.“The Feedertech Group has enjoyed great success over the years and we are proud of our achievements.

Dubai's DP World Completes Danish Unifeeder Acquistion

DP World Gross Volume Up 4.8% for 1H 2018

Dubai-based port and terminal operator DP World said that its gross volumes rose 4.8 percent to USD 35.6 billion s for the six months to 30 June 2018,  despite uncertainties in the container market. DP World Acquires Unifeeder for $762.6 Mln

DP World, one of the world's largest port operators, said on Tuesday it had acquired 100 percent of Unifeeder Group, a Danish logistics company, for 660 million euros ($762.6 million).The acquisition from Nordic Capital Fund VIII and certain minority shareholders will boost DP World's presence in the global supply chain and broaden its product offering to its customers, shipping lines and cargo owners, DP World said.Based in Aarhus, Denmark, Unifeeder operates a container feeder and a shortsea network in Europe, serving both deep-sea container hubs and the intra-Europe container freight market

Malta Hosts European Shortsea Network Meeting

European Shortsea Network (ESN) meeting was held in Malta with representatives from 11 European countries at the head office of Malta Freeport Terminals, says a report in Times of Malta. The presidency of the European Shortsea Network is currently held by Malta which also hosts the official registration of the European Shortsea Network as a legal entity. The European Shortsea Network is an association made up of 28 European countries with their main objective being that of promoting shortsea shipping in Europe. This network is recognised by the Directorate General of Mobility and Transport of the European Commission whose mission includes the promotion of transport through shortsea shipping.

Growth Potential of European Short Sea Shipping Untapped

A coalition of European shipping sector organisations, led by the European Community Association of Ship Brokers and Agents (ECASBA), has called on the European Parliament, Commission and Member States to honour the commitments to support short sea shipping that were made in May last year in the Athens Declaration. ECASBA General Manager Jonathan C. Williams FICS, who coordinated the joint letter, said that the Declaration included a clear and unequivocal call by Transport Ministers for concerted action by Europe to allow short sea shipping to exploit its full potential as the most efficient and environmentally friendly mode of transport. One year on however, the actions that require to be taken to allow the Declaration aims to be achieved, have still not been progressed, he added.

APL and MOL Increases Japan Coverage

Global container shipping leader APL today announced that it will enhance its Japan to Thailand and Philippines coverage as a slot operator in a tie-up with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL). Containerships Rebrands South Baltic Services and Agencies

Containerships is rebranding the South Baltic services and agencies built up under the Kursiu Linija name. From February 1, 2007 all Kursiu Linija services will be operated under the Containerships name. Containerships will also have its own agents in Lithuania and Latvia, under the names of Containerships Lithuania and Containerships Latvia. These replace UAB Arijus and Kursiu Linija Latvia. The Finland, Russia, Poland, Sweden service has also been enhanced from January 30, when the Carina made its first call in Klaipeda. She will add in Klaipeda into her rotation, which will then be: Helsinki - St. Petersburg - Klaipeda - Gdansk - Sodertalje.
