RWE Taps Fugro for UK North Sea Wind Farm Site Survey

Dutch offshore survey specialist Fugro has secured a contract with RWE to carry out geophysical exploratory works at Five Estuaries offshore wind farm, the extension project of the existing 353MW Galloper wind farm.Works are expected to take place in the Southern North Sea from August to November 2021.Three dedicated vessels will map the characteristics of the seabed and bedrock to assess the conditions around the wind farm site and the potential cable locations. SGRE Powers Google in Sweden

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has secured an order to supply its turbines for a 254MW wind farm in Sweden that will power Google’s Hamina data centre in Finland.The Stavro wind farm, SGRE's largest ever onshore wind order in Sweden,  will use 62 turbines with a 4.1MW rating. It is expected online by the end of 2021.Stavro is located in the northern part of Sweden, northwest of Umeå, and divided into two sub-sites: Blodrotberget, with 40 turbines, and Blackfjället, with 22 turbines.Commissioning of the wind farm is scheduled for the end of 2021 and the project will be covered by a 30-year service agreement also delivered by SGRE.

Global Ship Lease Bags Refinancing Deal

Global Ship Lease (GSL), UK-based holding company and containership charter owner, has now settled a five-year refinancing of its debt.According to the container ship owner, the new syndicated $268m credit facility is signed with a number of commercial lenders including Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, ABN AMRO Bank, CIT Bank, Hellenic Bank and Siemens Financial Services.GSL expects to draw down the first tranche of the New Senior Loan, in full, of $230 million shortly and will use the proceeds to refinance five existing senior credit facilities with maturities in December 2020 and April 2021, thereby reducing its cost of debt…

Consortium Buys Veja Mate Offshore Wind

A consortium led by asset manager Commerz Real AG, WPD Invest, KGAL and IKEA franchisee Ingka Group will acquire an 80% stake in the 402-MW Veja Mate offshore wind park in the German North Sea.Veja Mate offshore wind park in the North Sea  is the second-largest German offshore wind farm with 67 turbines and a capacity of 402 megawatts. The total investment comes more than two billion eurosCommerz Real and Ingka Group said in a joint statement today that they will each invest more than EUR 200 million (USD 226m) in the project company for the 67-turbine wind park.The other members of the buying consortium are Wpd invest GmbH and investment manager KGAL, while the sellers are Highland Group Holdings, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Siemens Financial Services.

DONG Becomes Lead Developer of UK's Offshore Wind Hornsea Zone

Denmark's DONG Energy has become the lead developer of Britain's Hornsea Zone offshore wind scheme after it bought the project rights to the second and third phases of the development Mainstream Renewable Power and Siemens Financial Services. The Hornsea Zone, off the coast of northeast England, is being developed in phases to ultimately provide 4 gigawatts (GW) of renewable wind energy and has the potential to meet 40 percent of Britain's electricity demand. DONG acquired the first phase of the development, known as Hornsea Project One, earlier this year, which will have a capacity of 1.2 GW.

Siemens to Supply Eighty N. Sea Wind Turbines

Siemens contracted by Germany's wpd group to supply & install 80 wind turbines for the Butendiek offshore wind power plant. The agreement also covers a long-term maintenance contract for a period of ten years, the first of its kind for an offshore wind project. Siemens is to provide a new logistics concept that includes a service operation vessel specially developed for deployments to offshore wind facilities.
