Intelligent Self-sufficient Systems for Powerful Drive Tasks

New from Bosch Rexroth are standalone axes with identical servo-drives for actuators with mechanical or hydraulic force transmission, offering new degrees of freedom for machine manufacturers in finding drive solutions that suit specific application requirements. The versions with hydraulic transmission are provided with their own, decentralized fluid circuit. The installation, commissioning and connection to controls and Industry 4.0 environments via a Multi-Ethernet interface or ProfiBus are identical on both variants.

LR Bags LAUGFS' Contract in Sri Lanka

Lloyd’s Register (LR), world’s leading engineering, technical and business services organization announced today that it has been appointed by LAUGFS Gas PLC (LAUGFS) to handle key safety and quality checks of the LPG terminal at Hambantota Port, some 240kms away from Sri Lanka’s capital city, Colombo. The contract is valued at GBP500,000. “A valued long-term business partner, LR has been meeting maritime needs of Sri Lanka since 1945. In 2015, we announced plans to build and operate a world class LPG terminal at Hambantota Port. After carefully evaluating different vendors’ proposals, we found LR’s benchmark assurance and advisory services to be a sound value proposition that had clear competitive advantages,” said Mr. W.K.H. Wegapitiya, Chairman of LAUGFS Holding.

Trelleborg Ships its 600th LNG Ship Shore Link

Trelleborg’s marine systems operation has passed a milestone with the shipment of its 600th SeaTechnik Ship Shore Link (SSL) system for the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Industry. The SeaTechnik SMART SSL system will be installed on a 174,000m3 LNG Carrier (Hull number 2411), being built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) at its Okpo ship yard, Goeje Island, South Korea, for Teekay shipping Limited. Skandi Constructor Set for Work in Gulf of Mexico in 2015

Well Ops, Inc. a subsidiary of Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. is pleased to announce that its well intervention vessel, Skandi Constructor, will be available for operation in the Gulf of Mexico for the first quarter of 2015. The Skandi Constructor is a dedicated light intervention mono hull equipped with the Helix 7 3/8” 10,000psi Subsea Intervention lubricator (SIL) package. The planned campaign in the Gulf follows three very successful campaigns in West Africa, U.K. North Sea and East Coast Canada. AMI Wins $3.5 Million Defense Contract

Auburn Manufacturing, Inc. (AMI) has won a multiyear contract to supply over 200,000 yards of AMI-SIL fabric to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (NSY) in Bremerton, Washington, for use in hot work operations during ship repair. The contract, which could total as much as $3.5 million over the next five years, "reflects the continued confidence the Department of Defense has in our products," said Kathie Leonard, AMI's President and CEO. Bureau Veritas Classes Brazil’s Largest FPU

Petrobras’ P-55 Floating Production Unit (FPU), the largest and the first of this kind entirely built in Brazil, is on its way to the Roncador Field, Campos Basin, where it will be installed in a water depth of 1,790 metres. The column stabilized semi-submersible has a capacity of 180,000 bopd and 6,000,000 cu m of gas. The unit is classed by Bureau Veritas. BV group companies also provided a wide range of verification and support services which made the major project possible.

SOR Switches Certified for SIL Environments

SOR® pressure and level switches are certified for use in IEC 61508 SIL applications. SOR announced today that the company’s line of pressure, differential pressure, temperature, vacuum and level switches have been certified fit for use in SIL (Safety Integrity Level) environments. SOR is one of only a few manufacturers in the industry to offer its entire range of switches certified to IEC 61508 safety standard. To obtain SIL certification, the products were assessed by FM Approvals per the requirements of IEC 61508 Parts 1, 2, and 3. When implementing Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) in process plant environments such as power plants, offshore oil platforms, refineries and chemical plants, the SIL certification helps mitigate risk at the process instrument level.

Panama Canal 11th Int’l Expansion Award

The Panama Canal Expansion Program received its 11th international award to date at the 2009 International Logistics and Material Handling Exhibition (SIL 2009) in Barcelona, Spain June 4.
