Pershing Splashes Flagship Superyacht

Pershing has announced the launch of its first aluminium superyacht, the flagship Pershing 140.The 42.53m yacht hit the water in the Ferretti Group's Super Yacht Yard in Ancona, a facility specializing in building steel and aluminium superyachts above 40 metres, said a press release from Pershing Yacht, a Ferretti Group unit."Born from a collaboration between architect Fulvio De Simoni, the Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee led by engineer Piero Ferrari, and the Group's Engineering Department, the new 140-footer (LOA 43,3m) is the first Pershing to be produced at the Ancona Superyacht Yard, a Ferretti Group facility specialized in building super and mega yachts above 40 m…

Meet the Wider 42 - Commercial

A planning boat that is light, fast and economical, yet has the usable deck area of a boat twice it’s size and the stability of a trimaran! Sounds too good to be true, well that was my initial reaction until I attended the Press launch in Italy of the “transformer” Wider 42. I call it transformer because that’s what it does. It can plane at speeds over 50 knots and when it stops, by pressing a button, in 12 secs it transforms the cockpit deck into an are twice its size. To ensure stability, two sponsons, one each side slide out from the hull to increase stability.

VT Halter Marine, Northrop Grumman Team

VT Halter Marine Inc. has teamed with Northrop Grumman Corporation’s Electronic Systems sector to bid for the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command’s (TACOM) Theater Support Vessel (TSV) project. The TSV will support the Army’s transformation goal of deploying a combat-ready brigade anywhere in the world within 96 hours and will reduce support requirements for large-scale, onshore arrivals. The TSV will allow the Army to rapidly respond to crisis situations by arriving quickly and landing at ports that are too shallow or under-equipped for conventional vessels. Northrop Grumman Appoints Director of Electronics Integration Site

Northrop Grumman Corporation's Electronic Systems sector has appointed Martin P. Simoni site director of its electronics integration facility located on Baltimore, Md. The Ocean Springs organization, part of the Advanced Naval Platforms group within Electronic Systems, designs, integrates and tests ship electronic systems and primarily serves the Gulf Coast shipbuilding industry as a ship electronic systems integrator. The Ocean Springs facility currently has 50 employees, including systems and software engineering personnel, and maintains a limited manufacturing capability for shipboard spares and repairs.
