Wärtsilä to Supply Marine Simulators in Southampton

Wärtsilä has been selected to provide a full scope of marine simulators for a new training facility at Solent University’s Warsash School of Maritime Science and Engineering, located in Southampton, England.Scheduled to complete in spring 2019, it will be the largest marine simulation training center in the U.K. The contract with Wärtsilä, which was booked in September 2018, is linked to a five-year continuous service agreement.“The simulation center will be a central pillar of our maritime education…

Assessing Skills in the Maritime Industry

Never easy, but always a critically important task. It is critically important that we assess the ability of our mariners to perform the skills required to safely and efficiently do their jobs. It happens to also be very difficult to do so objectively and at the level of detail necessary to ensure safe operations and continuous improvement. This is especially true in dynamic, team-based scenarios such as drills and complicated safety-critical activities. This article covers a novel initiative by one of the world’s largest cruise lines and its partners to provide a solution to this problem.

Aussie Navy Opens Simulation Training Center

A state-of-the-art simulation facility has been opened in Sydney that will enhance training for Royal Australian Navy technical sailors. Resolve Maritime Academy Opens Engine Room Simulator

Resolve Maritime Academy recently completed its installation of Transas engine room simulator platform, the ERS 5000 TechSim. As part of the Academy’s Simulation Training Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the engine room has booked classes for January 2014. The ERS 5000 TechSim has allowed Resolve Maritime Academy to expand its course offerings to engineers from all sectors of the maritime industry including the offshore, tanker and cruise sectors. Resolve to Provide Training for Norwegian Cruise Line

PEM Offshore Limited signed a multi-million dollar contract with Kongsberg Maritime for the supply of a full suite of Offshore Anchor Handling, Dynamic Positioning, Power Management and Crane Simulation systems. Technical University Varna Opens Simulation Center

The Technical University of Varna, Bulgaria officially opened its new state of the art simulation training center during a high profile opening ceremony at the university premises on October 3rd, 2012. Resolve Maritime Academy (Academy) opened its new Simulation Training Center on Monday, March 12 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA facility adjacent to Port Everglades. Resolve Maritime Academy and Royal Caribbean Cruises to join forces to deliver state-of-the-art simulator-based safety and navigation training for Royal Caribbean cruise ship personnel. Resolve Maritime Academy and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. announced today that plans are underway for new simulation-based training programs to enhance safety at sea for the cruise line’s personnel and guests. In 2011, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCL) selected Resolve to be their exclusive provider of all simulator-based training courses, and formalized arrangements to jointly develop the new programs.
