ECDIS Utilizes COLREGs for Training

ECDIS Ltd. has recently utilized new simulation training technology for COLREGs teaching aids, creating a brighter way to train and assess students from their 150 major shipping company clients in the classroom. Using the new technology via projectors, the assessors, instructors and students have the dynamic ability to continuously change the COLREGs situation, in a variety of meteorological conditions, from any aspect of any vessel i.e. port or starboard, birds eye, helm positions and free orbital. Long gone are the days of using ROR flip cards and magnetic smartie boards.

Kongsberg to Supply Simulators for NigerianTraining Center

PEM Offshore Limited signed a multi-million dollar contract with Kongsberg Maritime for the supply of a full suite of Offshore Anchor Handling, Dynamic Positioning, Power Management and Crane Simulation systems. The new simulators will form the main infrastructure for a world-class offshore simulation training center and the first of its kind in Nigeria and West Africa. The office of the new wholly owned Kongsberg Maritime Company, Kongsberg Maritime Tech LLC was officially opened in St. Petersburg, Russia on 23rd March 2010.
