VSTEP GMDSS Simulators DNV-GL Certified

Maritime simulator developer VSTEP said it has received DNV-GL accreditation for its recently introduced GMDSS Simulators. This certification is the latest addition to VSTEP’s range of DNV-GL certified NAUTIS maritime simulators as its GMDSS, Dynamic Positioning, Tug and Class A FMB simulators are now all fully DNV-GL certified for training in accordance with STCW and IMO requirements. The new NAUTIS GMDSS Simulators by VSTEP come in two possible setups, a full hardware version or a virtual GMDSS system with touchscreens.

VSTEP Appoint New Head of Sales

International developer of simulators and virtual training software, Rotterdam-based VSTEP, says it has appointed Joost van Ree as head of sales with responsibility for worldwide sales and growth of the company’s simulator products. Van Ree will be heading up the company’s global sales force for all its simulator products, including the NAUTIS maritime simulator and RescueSim Incident Command departments. VSTEP adds that Joost van Ree brings a career of over 10 years in Senior Sales, Business Development and Management positions with a maritime background to the company. He will also lead further expansion of the global sales & business development team and the VSTEP partner network. Kongsberg Simulators with Multiple DNV Approvals

Engine room simulators approved to the highest DNV certificate level. A total of 14 Kongsberg Maritime Engine Room Simulator models received new Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Statements of Compliance in December 2011. The approvals are according to the revised standards laid out in DNV – Standard for Certification of Maritime Simulators No. 2.14 January 2011, which is based on the requirements of STCW Convention, Regulation I/12 and include the new 2010 amended convention that came into force from January 1st 2012.

MPRI Signs Contract with Dalian Port

MPRI, a global leader in maritime simulator products, services and turnkey training facilities, today announced the sale of its maritime crane simulator to the Dalian Port Container Terminal Co., Ltd (DPCM), located in Dayao Bay, Dalian, China. The MPRI crane simulator is the sixth purchased by a Chinese port to date adding to those already in use at the Ports of Yantian, Ningbo, Tianjin and Shanghai. In addition, the DPCM simulator will include the only module on the market today for tandem-lift cranes. The MPRI crane simulator can be tailored to meet the precise needs of various ports' crane systems. DPCM specifically purchased a back projector model consisting of two modules, a ship-to-shore (STS) dock gantry single-lift system with tandem-lift technology and a rubber-tire gantry (RTG).

MPRI Sells Liquid Cargo Handling Simulators

MPRI, a leader in maritime simulator products, services and turnkey training facilities, sold its SAfeCargo Liquid Cargo Handling Simulators (LCHS) in some of the world's top maritime academies, including its first three in the United States. Within the last two months SAfeCargo simulators have been adopted by the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay, the State University of New York Maritime Academy in the Bronx and Belgium-based Antwerp Maritime Academy. In November the RTM STAR Center in Dania Beach, Fla., will also install the system. "We purchased the SAfeCargo Liquid Cargo Handling Simulators from MPRI primarily for their ease of use by both the students and the instructors," said Craig Dalton, Captain, Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
