MPA Pumps $8.9 Mln More into Singapore's LNG Bunkering

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has injected another S$12 million (US$8.9 million) to boost liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering in the Port of Singapore. Half of this S$12 million has been set aside to co-fund the building of new LNG bunker vessels to facilitate the development of ship-to-ship LNG bunkering in the Port of Singapore. The remaining half will be used to top up MPA’s existing co-funding program to support the building of LNG-fuelled vessels. Launched in 2015, the initial funding for this programme has been fully utilised to support Keppel SMIT Towage Pte Ltd, Maju Maritime Pte Ltd, Harley Marine Asia Pte Ltd, Sinanju Tankers Pte Ltd, and most recently, PSA Marine (Pte) Ltd. Andrew Tan, Chief Executive of MPA, said.

OW Bunker Delivers Significant Time Savings

Time of bunkering process significantly reduced providing savings of thousands of dollars per day. OW Bunker has announced significant efficiency benefits following the commencement of distributing fuel oil with an MPA-approved (Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore) Coriolis Flow Meter on-board its latest barge in Singapore, Marine Noel. The time to supply bunkers, which normally takes between seven and eight hours has been reduced by 50% by using the Coriolis Flow Meter, providing customers with significant time, and therefore, cost savings.

OW Bunker Launches 3rd Barge in Singapore

OW Bunker, a physical distributor and reseller of marine fuels, today announced the launch of its third barge in Singapore. According to the company, the move is part of its strategy to continue the expansion of its physical operation in the region. The vessel also has a Coriolis Flow Meter installed, which has been approved by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Marine Noel, operated by Sinanju Tankers Pte Ltd, is a modern, 4,700 DWT barge, built in 2012. The vessel has fast pumping rates and can distribute the full range of quality products to customers.
