Two Missing after Ship Sinks in South China Sea
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said that a ship sank in South China Sea on Friday, 11 out of 13 crew were rescued and two remained missing. According to the survivors, there were 13 crew on board the sunken vessel. Two persons are still unaccounted for. MPA has been providing navigational broadcasts to vessels in the vicinity to report any sightings of persons overboard and to navigate with caution in the vicinity of the incident. The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has also deployed one Super Puma helicopter and one Fokker-50 maritime patrol aircraft to support the search and rescue operation. MPA is coordinating the ongoing search and rescue operation with the Malaysian and Indonesian authorities.
Two Persons Missing After Sampan Capsized in Singapore
At about 1930 hours on 10 December 2017, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) was informed by Johor’s Maritime Rescue Sub Centre that two men had been reported to be missing after their sampan capsized earlier at about 1630 hours. The incident had occurred 0.8 nautical miles southeast of Pedra Branca, the co-ordinates being latitude 01˚ 19.25’N and longitude 104˚ 24.97’E, within the Singapore Maritime Search and Rescue Region (MSRR). The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) Littoral Mission Vessel RSS Sovereignty was immediately deployed to the area of the incident for the search and rescue (SAR) operations.
Singapore: Dredger Sank After Colliding with Tanker, 5 Missing
The divers have recovered two bodies out of the five missing crew of JBB DE RONG 19, following the collision between Indonesian-registered tanker KARTIKA SEGARA and Dominican-registered dredger JBB DE RONG 19 that occurred in Singapore territorial waters at about 12.40am (Singapore time) on 13 September 2017. At the point of collision this morning, 12 crew members were onboard JBB DE RONG 19. Seven were sent to the Singapore General Hospital, out of whom five have since been discharged. Search and rescue (SAR) efforts for the three remaining crew members are ongoing. The incident took place in the westbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) in the Singapore Strait.
USN, RSN Achieve New Milestones During CARAT 2015
The U.S. Navy and Republic of Singapore Navy completed the 21st annual Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Singapore after 11 days of comprehensive training both at sea and ashore, July 24. CARAT Singapore featured a series of dynamic training engagements including a five-day sea phase involving ships, submarines and aircraft from both countries. Singapore Searches for Tugboat Crew
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and commercial vessels continue to conduct the search and rescue (SAR) operation for the missing persons from the tugboat Ocean Lark. On 7 January 2010, until 1730hrs (Singapore time), divers from salvage company POSH SEMCO Pte Ltd recovered another two bodies from Ocean Lark, bringing the total number recovered to four. From the start of SAR operation on 6 January 2010 till 1730hrs (Singapore time) on 7 January 2010, the following assets had at various times assisted in the SAR operation: four RSN vessels, one RSAF Super Puma helicopter, two RSAF Fokker 50 maritime patrol aircraft, one Indonesian navy vessel and 14 commercial vessels.
