President Energy Strikes Oil in Argentina

UK-based oil and gas company President Energy President Energy has encountered oil in the third and final well of its current drill programme at the Puesto Flores concession in Argentina.Well PF0 1005 has been drilled, logged, cased and cemented to 2,360 metres both on time and on budget, the company focusing primarily on high margin production opportunities in Latin America said.Both the Punta Rosada primary target and the Lotena formation secondary target resulted in good oil shows while drilling and are shown by electronic logs to be encouraging with 18 metres of net oil pay determined to be tested having good oil saturation and porosity.

Celata Heads BOEM's Gulf of Mexico Office

Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Director Abigail Ross Hopper today announced Mike Celata as the Regional Director of the Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Region. Celata, who starts his position immediately, has been with BOEM and its predecessors since 1988. He has been acting Regional Director since March. The Gulf of Mexico Region is responsible for managing more than 4,600 active leases over 25 million acres of land on the OCS. “Mike has many years of service with the agency, working on aspects of the OCS energy program and on regional and national ocean policy initiatives,” said BOEM Director Abigail Ross Hopper. OTC Announces New Board Members

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) board of directors elected the 2004-2005 chairman and vice-chairman during this year’s event that took place 5-8 May at Reliant Center at Reliant Park in Houston. Members of the OTC Board are appointed to four-year terms by their respective society or organization. The OTC Board includes 13 representatives, 11 from OTC’s sponsoring organizations and two from OTC’s endorsing organizations. The two principal officers, the Chairman and the Vice Chairman, are elected for two-year terms by the Board during their annual meeting. The 2004-2005 OTC Chairman is Rod Allan, Manager of Core Expertise for Transocean Offshore Deepwater Drilling, Inc. Allan has served four years on the OTC board and succeeds Charlie Richards of C.A.
