GE Power Conversion Wins Contract for Military Sealift Command Vessel Maintenance

The U.S. Navy Military Sealift Command (MSC) has awarded GE Power Conversion an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract to maintain the electric and hybrid electric power and propulsion systems aboard its vessels. The five-year contract potentially could be worth $125 million.The contract covers maintenance, modernization and upgrades, training, repairs, parts, remote technical support, and program management on 35 vessels, with more ships to be added as they are built and turned over to MSC after commissioning.

Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE Winner Annouced

The GEBCO NF- Alumni Team was announced as the $4 million grand prize winner of the Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE, a three-year global competition that challenged teams to advance deep sea technologies for autonomous and unmanned, fast and high-resolution ocean exploration. The team's winning concept includes the use of a unique unmanned surface vessel (USV) / autonomous underwater vessel (AUV) and associated combination of communications hardware and software to process and transmit data remotely.

Crowley Implements Tideworks’ TOS at Port Everglades

Danelec Debuts New ECDIS Platform at Nor-Shipping

Danelec Marine announced the introduction of its new Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) platform for marine navigation, shown for the first time at the Nor-Shipping 2015 maritime trade fair in Oslo, Norway, this week. Danelec said its new ECDIS platform incorporates new Linux-based application software, an intuitive easy-to-learn user interface, industry-leading cartography solutions, ruggedized low-power LED display monitors and Danelec’s exclusive SoftWare Advanced Protection (SWAP) technology for shipboard service. The new system is designed around a custom-built computer running on Linux, which is more stable, robust and secure than Windows-based PCs. The computer has been designed, tested and built for the marine environment.

Tideworks TOS Chosen for New Caledonia Terminal

Terminal management and planning software solutions provider Tideworks Technology says that Koniambo Nickel SAS (KNS) in Koné, New Caledonia, has selected Tideworks to implement its terminal operating system (TOS) solutions for its new container operations. Established near the New Caledonia North Province county town of Koné, KNS is developing a world-class industrial complex that will help New Caledonia become one of the world's largest nickel producers. It is working to exploit a nickel deposit that is ranked one of the most important and of the best quality worldwide. The KNS project, which will go live in Q4 2013, includes deployment of Tideworks’ Spinnaker Planning Management System® and its Traffic Control™ equipment dispatch system.

Port of Stockton Selects Tideworks TOS

Tideworks Technology, Inc., a provider of full-service terminal management and planning software solutions, announced that California’s Port of Stockton will deploy Tideworks Technology’s terminal operating system (TOS) to manage its container-on-barge operation and improve overall operational efficiency. Port of Stockton’s implementation of Tideworks’ TOS is part of the M-580 Marine Highway, a federally funded project aimed at moving ocean shipping containers by barge instead of truck between Oakland and the Central Valley in California.

Athens Group Doubles Revenue, First Half of 2010

Athens Group announced a 103% increase in year-over-year revenue for the first half of 2010, as well as a significant increase in booked business for the balance of 2010. Athens Group Third Year of Growth

Athens Group announced a 64% increase in year-over-year revenue for 2009 as well as a 225% increase in booked business for 2010. Athens Group is experiencing a growing demand for its Drilling Technology Assurance (DTA) Services on newbuilds and existing fleets as drilling contractors and operators become increasingly aware of the need for control systems and software engineering expertise on today’s high-specification assets. In 2010, Athens Group’s Proven Practices Methodology will be used by a growing base of customers to reduce Non-Productive time (NPT) and improve safety during all phases of the rig lifecycle including construction, operations, annual audits, and refurbs.
