Oxidation Catalyst Project Aims for 70% Methane Slip Reduction

MAN Energy Solutions has announced that it is developing an oxidation catalyst for four-stroke engines that will significantly reduce methane slip. Called ‘IMOKAT II’ and developed at MAN Energy Solutions’ headquarters in Augsburg, Germany, the research project is currently undergoing testing at the company’s Frederikshavn, Denmark facility.Funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Climate Action, the new project will investigate the operational experience of a pre-turbo methane-oxidation catalyst…

Drydock World Dubai Signs Up to Use Nupas-Cadmatic

Nupas-Cadmatic has signed a contract for the delivery of 3D design and information management software to shipyard Drydock World Dubai (DDWD). The largest single deal in Nupas-Cadmatic’s history, the company said the contract represents its breakthrough in the international offshore industry. Nupas-Cadmatic’s delivery includes the design system licenses, system installation, user training as well as support services for over 150 simultaneous users of the software. Aquarius MAS + Solar Ready for Commercial Use

As a result of the recent successful completion of sea trials on-board the high speed car and passenger ferry, Blue Star Delos, Eco Marine Power (EMP) has now cleared the Aquarius MAS + Solar and Aquarius Marine Solar Power solutions for commercial release. During two days of testing and evaluation on the 17th and 19th May, 2015, the performance of the Aquarius MAS + Solar trial system on-board Delos was assessed by both EMP and Blue Star Ferries technical personnel as part of the Blue Star Delos Renewable Energy Innovation Project. Aquarius MAS + Solar is an innovative renewable energy solution for ships and the trial system includes a 2.3 kWp marine solar panel array, a 5.4 kWhr battery pack, MPPT charge controllers, a marine computer plus associated communications and interface devices.

Latest Developments in Engine Room Simulators

Transas Marine has released a new simulator product, which is a stand-alone Engine Room simulator, ERS Solo. This simulator broadens the company's existing product range of Engine Room simulators, which includes the PC-based ERS 2000 and the ERS 3000, which is fitted with real engine control room panels for monitoring and control of engine room machinery. The ERS Solo possesses all the functionality of ERS 2000, other than its on-line Instructor functions. With the ERS Solo simulator, the Instructor-generated tasks are performed in off-line mode. The main simulated machinery includes the ship's diesel propulsion power plant, with models for two-stroke and four-stroke diesel engines, an electric power plant and a number of auxiliary systems.

Kongsberg Norcontrol IT Completes Upgrade

the Humber Estuary VTS. by Associated British Ports (ABP) Hull & Goole to ensure safety of navigation as shipping traffic in the region increases year on year. and extended the system in 1997 with a new Radar at Stone Creek and remote displays at King George dock Hull, data centre Hull, and Immingham. An AIS base station was later added at Spurn Point in addition to further Radar upgrades by ABP. Kongsberg Norcontrol IT has now updated the complete system to the latest version of its VTMIS5060 at Spurn, Immingham and Hull. Spurn Point continues to provide the Humber Estuary VTS Centre functions, while Immingham has been configured for Disaster Recovery and Emergency operations.
