LR Awards AIP to GE for ‘Digital Twin READY’

Lloyd’s Register (LR) has presented GE with an Approval in Principle (AiP) to ‘Digital Twin READY’, marking the first ever approval of a digital twin health management system for marine applications.At a press conference today during SMM trade fair in Hamburg, Germany, it was announced that Lloyd’s Register’s newly released Digital Compliance has been validated through a cocreation project with GE, resulting in an AiP to ‘Digital Twin READY’ for GE’s Predix Asset Performance Management…

Bahri Chooses Digital Strategic Partner

Saudi Arabia based Bahri Group, one of the largest ship owners in the Middle East and the largest owner of very large crude carriers (VLCC) in the world, has opted for digital solutions from Singapore based MariApps Marine Solutions to help meet its ship management software requirements. Majid Al-Shenaiber, Senior VP, Information Technology, Bahri Group, and Sankar Ragavan, CEO MariApps Marine Solutions, signed the agreement at the Bahri offices in Dubai on May 13. Raytheon Advances Ship Computing

Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) achieved another in a series of milestones for the Zumwalt-class destroyer program with the successful Total Ship Computing Environment (TSCE) Release 6 software specifications review. Zumwalt’s TSCE is an advanced, open systems architecture that provides a scalable platform for cost-efficient delivery of new mission capability while capitalizing on the reuse of millions of lines of code from existing Navy programs. The system delivers a new level of Mission Systems Integration and automation. As such, it is a primary driver for the 60 percent reduction in manning for the Zumwalt-class destroyer versus the requirement for today’s Arleigh Burke-class destroyers.

Solstad Offshore Installs Autoload Onboard Stability

Autoship Systems Corporation (ASC) announced that their Norwegian Dealer, Coastdesign, Norway (CDN), has received 10 new orders from Solstad Offshore ASA for Autoload onboard stability software. Installations will be onboard vessels; Normand Jarl, Normand Drott, Normand Titan, Normand Trym, Normand Atlantic, Normand Borg, Normand Mjolne, Normand Draupne, Normand Skarven and Normand Seven. Autoload is currently installed onboard 23 Solstad vessels. Normand Seven, delivered to Solstad Offshore in July, is the largest offshore construction vessel (OCV) ever built by Ulstein Verft in Norway. It is a Vik-Sanvik VS 4220 OCV design and was voted Ship of the Year at the 2007 Norshipping Tradeshow in Norway. The vessel is 130m long and 28m wide with a bridge at a size of 400m2.
