New GM for Havyard Ship Technology

Lasse Stokkeland has decided to leave his position as general manager of Havyard Ship Technology AS (HST), and the Board has appointed Erlend Hatleberg as the new general manager.Hatleberg, 43, grew up in Leirvik in Sogn and now lives in Dale in Sunnfjord.He graduated as an engineer in 2003, and has worked amongothers in Fundo. He started working in HST's technical department in 2009.Hatlebergbecame project manager 2011, and has  been responsible for deliveries of PSV ships, construction vessels and icebreakers for Russian ship-owners and now for Fjord1's new series of ferries.In connection with the management change in HST, Stig Breidvik will become new production manager. Stig is 52 and lives in Leirvik in Sogn.

Havyard Taking Over Hull Number 50 from Cemre

Havyard’s collaboration with the Turkish shipyard Cemre has been decisive in the company’s ability to deliver top-quality competitive newbuilds from its own shipyard in Leirvik in Sogn.On Saturday, August 24, Cemre Shipyard launched the hull of Havyard Ship Technology AS’s build number 144. The hull will now be towed to Leirvik for fitting out, testing and completion and is scheduled for delivery to Fjord1 in January 2020, to operate the Sandvika - Edøya service. NES to Deliver More 'Concept' Solutions to Esvagt

Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) has signed a contract for the delivery of a further three equipment packages with IAS/PMS and NavCom to Esvagt, a pioneer in offshore wind.This will be vessels number eight, nine and ten delivered to Esvagt, where NES will deliver the same integrated automation system (IAS) and navigation and communication package with Concept Bridge as those delivered for the other windfarm service vessels.The contract is worth $2.35 million.Good conceptThe first equipment package with engineering is scheduled for delivery in March 2020.

Corvus Energy has announced that the company has been selected by Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) to supply lithium ion battery-based energy storage systems (ESS) for five new all-electric ferries being built by Havyard for Norwegian ferry operator Fjord1.Corvus Energy provides battery power to more ferries than all other providers of energy storage systems combined. Equinor Pushes Shore Power, Cuts CO2

Norwegian oil major Equinor said that NorSea opened a shore power supply station at the Dusavik supply base in Stavanger, Norway, on January 18."The base is the latest in a string of supply bases where vessels operating on Equinor contracts are offered shore power for hotel needs while at berth and to charge their onboard batteries," said a press statement.Shore-to-ship power supply is one of several measures to reduce emissions in logistics. Thirteen supply vessels on long-term contracts with Equinor have installed shore power systems on board, and a further five vessels in the contract portfolio will be prepared for shore power supply during 2019.“We need broad cooperation if we are to reduce emissions from our supply chain.

Fjord1's First Battery-powered Ferry Named at Havyard

Norwegian shipbuilder Havyard has christened the first battery-powered ferry ordered by transportation company Fjord1. The christening ceremony for MF Husavik was held at the yard in Leirvik in Sogn on May 14. "Havyard has met some very stringent environmental requirements and won a total of 13 contracts for the delivery of both equipment for and the building of Fjord 1's battery-powered ferries," the shipbuilder said in a press statement.The first vessel in the series, Bnr 132 MF Husavik, was christened on Monday, May 14 during a ceremony at the yard in Leirvik in Sogn.MF Husavik will operate the Husavik–Sandvikvåg service in Hordaland…

Statoil Awards Contracts in Norway

Statoil has today, 7 January, awarded the service contracts for seven bases for the company in Norway. These contracts have been awarded to NorSea Group AS, Saga Fjordbase AS and Asco Norge AS. The contracts awarded include terminal and warehouse services as well as storage and pipeline handling. “These contracts, which will involve a long-term cooperation with the chosen suppliers, will result in great savings for Statoil’s logistical operations. Logistics represent some 10% of our field costs and making base operations more efficient is essential for extending the lifetime of the fields we operate,” says Astrid Sørensen, SVP for operations in Statoil.

Havyard OSV Delivered, Christened in Iceland

‘Polarsyssel’, a Havyard 832 L WE designed offshore supply vessel has been delivered from Havyard Ship Technology’s yard in Leirvik in Sogn to the Icelandic shipping company Fafnir Offshore. A long-term contract has been secured for the vessel, under which she will operate six months a year for the Governor of Svalbard for a period of six years. On her voyage from Tromsø to Longyearbyen, ‘Polarsyssel’ encountered both high seas and storm force winds, which put her seaworthiness to the test. Captain Kjetil Enoksen was full of praise after having put the ship to the test in the Barents Sea. ‘We experienced heavy weather during most of the passage’ the Captain said. "The wind blew high from the west during most of our journey and, on approaching Svalbard, we ran into a full storm.

Nigeria Cadets Train at Havyard Shipyard, Norway

Havyard inform that Marine Platforms Limited, which will soon be taking over a ship from the Norway-based shipbuider, has sent five of its cadets to Havyard as part of their training programme. In April 2013 Marine Platforms ordered a Havyard 857 Subsea ship from Havyard and will take delivery of the vessel from Havyard's shipyard in Leirvik in Sogn this November. A group of young Nigerian cadets who will be serving their apprenticeships on board the 'African Inspiration' have spent three weeks at Havyard to get them even better prepared for their time on board. Synapsis INS for Two New Wind Farm Service Vessels

The German navigation system manufacturer Raytheon Anschütz, says that  together with its exclusive Norwegian distributor Syberg AS, it has been awarded a contract for the supply of an advanced Synapsis Integrated Navigation System (INS) to two new state-of-the-art wind farm service vessels. Raytheon explains that the Norwegian shipyard, Havyard Ship Technology in Leirvik / Sogn, is designing and building the new vessels which have to meet the highest demands on design, safety, efficiency and performance. Raytheon Anschütz contributes to the advanced vessels with the supply of Integrated Navigation equipment from its Synapsis Intelligent Bridge Control series, which will be in compliance with DNV’s DNV NAUT-AW notation.

Norway's Havyard says it has signed a contract for the construction of a Havyard 833 WE ICE platform supply vessel with Fafnir Offshore HF. The vessel is to be designed by Havyard Design and Solutions in Fosnavaag & will be constructed at Havyard Ship Technology`s yard in Leirvik in Sogn, Norway. FEMCO Contracts Havyard for Ice Breaker Newbuild

Havyard has been commissioned to design and build an ice breaker vessel for Russian shipping company FEMCO, to be designed by Havyard Design & Solutions in Fosnavaag, Norway and is going to be constructed at Havyard Ship Technology`s shipyard in Leirvik in Sogn, Norway. The vessel will become newbuild no.122 and is due to be delivered in September 2015. The Russian shipping company has also secured an option for the construction of one further Havyard 843 Ice. Havyard has experience in constructing icebreakers for Russian shipowners.

Ship Tunnel Plans for Norway's Stormy West Cape

Plans for a huge tunnel for ships if given approval would be the first such tunnel in the world and could become a major tourist attraction. If approved, reports newspaper Aftenposten, the tunnel will be built at Stad in the county of Sogn and Fjordane on Norway’s west coast. The stretch of sea along this northern part of the west coast, and around the West Cape, is notoriously treacherous for ships. The idea of building a tunnel here has been in the development stages since the 1980s.
