Solar Solve Wins 40-Ship Order from S.Korea

The UK-based manufacturer of sunscreens for navigation bridge windows scored order for SOLASAFE anti-glare roller sunscreens that will be installed on 40 vessels that are being built in South Korea during 2019.The Type Approved screens will be fitted at the navigation bridge windows to protect ship’s personnel from heat, glare and uv light that is radiated by the sun to create a safer and more comfortable working environment.Included in the order is a series of 14 massive VLCC 320,000 tons deadweight oil tankers that will be 336 mts long, 60mts beam and 29.5mts depth, that are all being constructed by Daewoo Shipbuilders. Each vessel will cost well over £60m depending on engine type and are being built for owners in Norway…

Celebrity Cruises Installs SOLASOLV

British manufacturer of marine windows Solar Solve Marine has won a contract to supply 20 SOLASOLV anti-glare, heat rejecting roller screens screens to the bridge windows of the cruise ship Celebrity Millennium. Celebrity Millennium is owned and operated by Celebrity Cruises - a brand under Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (RCCL) and the second largest cruise line operator in the world. Solar Solve Attracts Cruise Ship Orders

Royal Caribbean Cruises Navigator of the Seas

Solar Solve Marine has received a number of recent orders for its class approved roller screens to be installed at the navigation bridge windows on cruise ships. One significant contract was for Royal Caribbean Cruises Navigator of the Seas – a Voyager Class Cruise Ship. Her keel was laid at Aker Yards, Finland in 2000 and the ship was launched in 2002. She is 138,279 GT and can carry 3,114 passengers plus additional crew, with a length of 1,020 feet and beam of 157.5 feet she is still one of the largest cruise ships in the world.

200 SOLASAFE Screens for Hyundai Containerships

South Shields based Solar Solve Marine received an order from Korea for four ship-sets of its SOLASAFE roller sunscreens. The screens are to be installed at the navigation bridge windows of four very large container carriers currently under construction at Daewoo’s DSME Okpo shipyard on Geoje Island. With a length of 366 mts, a beam of 48.8 mts and depth of 30 mts the vessels will all be 152,700 dwt., and whilst not the biggest in the world, they will still be classed as mega carriers with a maximum capacity of around 13,100 teu.

Rederiet Stenersen Orders Solasolv Screens

U.K. based Solar Solve Marine received two orders to supply SOLASOLV class approved roller screens from Stenships KS, a subsidiary of Rederiet Stenersen AS, headquartered in Bergen, Norway. Rederiet Stenersen transports liquid products with 17 chemical/product tankers ranging from 17-19,000 DWT deployed in North West European Trade. In December and January the company placed two orders for the M/T Sten Suomi and M/T Sten Bothnia. SOLASOLV antiglare screens are installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide.

Ben-My-Chree Orders SOLASOLV Screens

U.K. based Solar Solve Marine received an order to supply 12 SOLASOLV class approved roller screens to the Ben-My-Chree Ro-Pax ferry. The vessel is owned and operated by Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and operates from Douglas to Heysham. Built by van der Giessen de Nord shipyard in the Netherlands at the cost of £24 million, the ship entered into service in 1998 and can carry 636 passengers and up to 200 vehicles. SOLASOLV anti-glare screens are installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide.

Korean Orders for SOLASOLV Roller Screens

In June 2013, Solar Solve Marine received 18 separate orders for their SOLASOLV roller screens from their South Korean Distributor. The orders are primarily for ships under construction in South Korean shipyards and equated to a total quantity of 236 screens. SOLASOLV anti glare screens are installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide. According to the manufacturer, they are a safety product that effectively rejects up to 87% of heat and up to 93% of glare from the sun.

Solar Solve Wins Orders from Two Japanese Shipbuilders

At the beginning of June South Shields based Solar Solve Marine dispatched a consignment of 16 SOLASAFE anti-glare roller sunshades to their distributor based in Osaka for installation at the wheelhouse windows of two new bulk carriers being built in Japan. Oshima Shipbuilding Co. are finishing off a Handymax Bulker, Hull No. 10705, at their Nagasaki yard for delivery next month. Currently both the name of the 55,116 dwt vessel and the owner have not been made public but the vessel will be delivered with 13 roller sunscreens from the SOLASOLV range installed at the navigation bridge windows.

Solar Solve Secures Contract for Marine Capture Vessel

South Shields based Solar Solve Marine received an order for Solasolv anti-glare, heat rejecting roller screens for the navigation bridge windows of a Marine Capture Vessel (MCV) which is being converted at Drydocks World in Dubai. Solasolv screens are installed at the windows of ships, rigs and cranes of all types and sizes worldwide. They reject up to 87% of heat and up to 93% of glare from the sun. Solar Solve claims that  with its product eye-strain is reduced, ensuring computer displays are easier to read, and a clear outward view is maintained for safer operations.

Re-Gasification Tanker Protected by Solar Solve

The diesel-electric LNG re-gasification tanker GDF Suez Neptune, a Samsung built ship, is unusual because of her diesel-electric propulsion together with her re-gasification capabilities. She will be operated by Hoegh LNG under long-term charter with GDF Suez. At 928 ft in length, 141 ft in mts breadth and 85 ft in depth, the 70,860dwt tanker’s twin 13,200 kW motors enable a service speed of 19.5 knots. GDF Suez Neptune, was delivered with 45 screens from the SOLASOLV range installed at her navigation bridge windows.

Maersk Ships to Get Solasolv Screens

Solar Solve Marine received an order from Maersk Ship Design to supply 10 ships with its famous Solasolv anti-glare roller screens for a number of 308,000dwt crude oil tankers at the renamed Dalian New Shipbuilding Heavy Industries in north east China. Formerly Dalian New Shipbuilding, the yard was the first in China to build very large crude carriers and delivered its first such vessel in 2003. The new tankers, which are due for delivery from next year, will be the biggest they have built so far. Solar Solve Marine moved last year to a purpose-built factory at Tyne Dock, South Shields. Solar Solve Marine, manufacturers of the SOLASOLVT range of anti glare sunscreens for navigation bridge windows is celebrating its 50th order for its new ROLASOLVT range of roller blinds for marine interior area windows, such as cabins, restaurants and lounges. This order follows the re-launch of the fabric roller blind range under the ROLASOLVT brand name at the end of 2002. The range offers three roller blind systems: CASSLITET, DIMMLITET and LITETITET. All are available in a wide selection of flame-retardant fabric types, operating systems and colors.

Newbuilds To Feature Solasafe

Manufactured by South Shields, U.K.-based Solar Solve Marine, Solasafe anti-glare roller screens will be featured on current newbuilds constructed at Chantiers De l'Atlantique for delivery to Renaissance Cruises. In a contract worth more than $65,000, Solar Solve will provide 19 roller screens for the vessels, bringing the amount of ships to boast the product to eight. Dubbed Sunglasses for Ships™ by the company, the screens will also be installed in the wheelhouse windows on two Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels, RFA Brambleleaf and RFA Diligence.
