Thin Plate Panel Line for Vard Tulcea Shipyard

Pemamek has signed an agreement to deliver a thin plate panel line to Vard Shipyard in Tulcea, Romania. The new delivered solution will ensure a high-quality production of demanding thin plate panels used in building vessels, such as special cruise ships. Fincantieri S.p.a as a majority shareholder, Vard Group AS is specialized in designing and building complex vessels. Thanks to the company’s long traditions and thorough expertise, Vard is one of the major key players in the global shipbuilding industry.

SHIPPINGInsight Award Entries Deadline Extended

Entries will be accepted until Aug. 1, 2014 for the inaugural SHIPPINGInsight Award. The annual award will honor a ship operating company and its technology partners for the successful implementation of an innovative technology or initiative that reduced operating costs and improved operating efficiencies. The winner will be selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award will be presented at a gala awards luncheon during the SHIPPINGInsight Fleet Optimization Conference & Exhibition, Oct. 1, in Stamford, Conn. “Results are often derived from collaborative efforts of multiple parties working together to achieve the desired goals,” said SHIPPINGInsight co-director, Jim Rhodes. •    What results were achieved? Results must be cited as quantifiable metrics.
