Canadian Coast Guard Expands Mapping Capability

Kongsberg Maritime said the Canadian Coast Guard has chosen its high resolution EM 712 multibeam echo sounders for the medium icebreakers CCGS Pierre Radisson and the CCGS Des Groseilliers. Osiris Projects Launches New Survey Vessel

MV Proteus

Specialist seabed mapping company Osiris Projects has this week launched the fifth vessel in their fleet, the 14m GRP catamaran MV Proteus. Designed to provide an excellent working platform for coastal survey operations, MV Proteus can work up to 60 miles from a safe haven under MCA Category 2 and has a maximum speed of 24 knots. The vessel benefits from a shallow draft of just 1m making her ideal for inshore operations, while the hull design ensures exceptional maneuverability at both low and high speeds and incorporates a low drag profile providing excellent fuel economy.

Italian Navy New Multibeam Echo Sounder Projects

Navy Installs New Multibeam Echo Sounders

In 2000 the Italian Navy Hydrographic Service installed two EM 300 multibeam echo sounder systems on their two new survey vessels, the "Galathea" and the "Arethusa". These two vessels have a wide spread of equipment from Kongsberg Maritime including EA 500 single beam echo sounder, a towed sidescan sonar, dynamic positioning system, etc. In the beginning of this year the Italian Navy Hydrographic Service again awarded a very important contract to Kongsberg Maritime for the supply of five multibeam echo sounder systems, four EM 3000 systems and one EM 1002 system. The supply of all sensors, associated with the multibeam has also been contracted to Kongsberg Maritime.
