Hapag-Lloyd to Replace Vessel on Conosur Service

Hapag-Lloyd informed that their vessel Hammonia Massilia Voyage 051W on our Conosur Service (South America West Coast to South America East Coast Service) will be replaced by Niledutch Antwerpen voyage 001W. The plan for the phase in/out is as follows: Hammonia Massilia 051W will phase out at Guayaquil on January 19, 2016 Niledutch Antwerpen 001W will phase in at Callao on January 20, 2016

Hamburg Süd Christens Cap San Vincent

Hamburg Süd christened its new containership, Cap San Vincent, at a ceremony at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME) shipyard in Okpo, South Korea, Wednesday. The final vessel in a series of three identical new builds, Cap San Vincent’s christening follows the launch of sister ships Cap San Juan and Cap San Lazaro earlier this year. Hamburg Süd Christens Third San Class Ship

Hamburg Süd christened its third container vessel in the new San class yesterday, officially naming newbuild San Vicente at the Cuenca del Plata terminal in Montevideo. The new ship class in the Hamburg Süd fleet has a nominal container slot capacity of around 9,000 TEU and with 1,370 reefer slots for refrigerated containers a correspondingly high reefer capacity. San Vicente’s sponsor is Elisa Maier, wife of Roland Maier, owner of the Swiss Commodity Supplies AG, with which Hamburg Süd has been working for many years.

World’s Largest Reefer Ship at HAROPA-Port du Havre

Cap San Lorenzo

On March 27 and 28, HAROPA-Port du Havre accommodated the Cap San Lorenzo, a container vessel of 9,600 TEU delivered by Hyundai to the German shipping company Hamburg-Süd. Being the fourth of a series of six vessels of the Cap San class, the Cap San Lorenzo has a reefer capacity of 2,100 plugs on board and 9,600 TEU, which makes that the vessels are the biggest refrigerated containerships in the world. With a length of 333.2 meters, the Cap San Lorenzo has the particular feature of being proportionally very broad (48.2 meters).

DP World Invests in London Gateway

The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Fiona Woolf, welcomed the foreign direct investment by Dubai’s DP World into London Gateway, while visiting the recently opened deep-sea container port and Europe’s largest logistics park. During her visit, the Lord Mayor, climbed one of the world’s largest quay cranes to have an elevated view of the massive three square mile site, where work is underway for a Common User Facility and other proposed distribution centers. Hamburg Süd, Maersk Line Second Sling to Asia

Rio Bravo Christened in Antwerp

The Rio Bravo was christened Nov. 12 in the port of Antwerp. She is the fifth newbuilding in a series of six identical Hamburg Süd container vessels, each with a slot capacity of 5,900 TEU. Sponsor of the Rio Bravo is Laura Madeleine von Schubert, daughter of Roland Oetker, Managing Partner of R.O.I. Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH and Member of the Advisory Board of the Oetker Group. Following her delivery on 18 August 2009 at Daewoo Mangalia Heavy Industries (DMHI), the Rio Bravo was first deployed in the service between Asia and South America East Coast before being phased into the Europe – South America East Coast Service in mid-October. She will be calling at Antwerp for the first time for the christening.

Hamburg Süd: Rio Blanco Christened

On August 23 the Rio Blanco was christened at Burchardkai in thePort of Hamburg. This is the fourth new vessel in a series totaling six container ships of identical design for Hamburg Süd. All of them have a slot capacity of 5,900 TEU, making them the largest vessels in the shipping group’s fleet. The naming ceremony for the Rio Blanco was performed by Nina-Maria Oetker, wife of Dr. h.c. August Oetker, General Partner of Dr. August Oetker KG and Chairman of the Advisory Board of Hamburg Süd.

"Monte" Class Ship Christened in Hong Kong

Monte Aconcagua, the last of a series of ten of Hamburg Süd's 5,552 TEU "Monte" class, was christened May 29, 2009 in . The container ship's sponsor was Luise Klus, daughter of Dr Ingeborg von Schubert, Chairlwoman of the Advisory Board of the Gundlach Group, . Following the naming ceremony, the "Monte Aconcagua" was phased into Hamburg Süd's - South Africa/South America East Coast Service (New Good Hope Express). In addition, Hamburg Süd will be adding three additional "" class vessels to its fleet until the end of the year.

Hamburg Süd's First Argentina Christening

The Monte Alegre, the ninth in a series of ten ships of the 5,552 TEU Monte class, was christened in Buenos Aires on March 22. It was the first ship christening in the more than 137-year history of Hamburg Süd to take place in Argentina. Sponsor of the Monte Alegre was Dr Brigitte Oetker, wife of Dr. Arend Oetker, Managing Partner of Dr. Arend Oetker Holding GmbH & Co. On delivery, the Monte Alegre was phased into the shipping company's Asia - South America Service. Rio Negro Christened in Korea

The sponsor of the Rio Negro is Daniela Oetker, wife of Alexander Oetker, Managing Director of the shipping company A.O. Schiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG. The Rio Negro is named after a tributary of the Amazon which rises in and then flows into the Amazon in (). Following delivery on November 4, 2008, the Rio Negro will initially be deployed in Hamburg Süd's New Good Hope Express Service, which connects Asia and with South America East Coast. She is then scheduled to be phased into the shipping group's - South America East Coast Service in March/April 2009.

Hamburg Süd Christens Largest-ever Containership

At the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. (DSME) yard in Okpo, Korea, Hamburg Süd christened the largest-ever container ship in the company's history. The "Rio de la Plata" is the first newbuilding in a series of six identical vessels each possessing a slot capacity of 5,900 TEU.
