Elbit Systems to Buy Sparton for $380 Million

Israel-based international defense electronics company Elbit Systems has signed an agreement to buy maritime defense contractor Sparton for $380 million. Elbit said Wednesday that its U.S. subsidiary Elbit Systems of America had signed a definitive agreement with an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. for the acquisition of Sparton. Sparton Parent, Inc.—formerly known as Striker Parent 2018—an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. bought Sparton in March 2019.The Elbit transaction is conditioned on various closing conditions, including receipt of U.S.

Navy Sonobuoy Contract for Sparton & USSI J/V

US-based Sparton Corporation and Ultra Electronics - USSI, a subsidiary of Ultra Electronics Holdings plc (ULE) announce the award of subcontracts valued at $10.8 million to their ERAPSCO joint venture, for the manufacture of sonobuoys for the United States Navy. The Q53F and Q125 sonobuoys are used to support the United States Naval Antisubmarine Forces. The primary purpose of a sonobuoy is to detect acoustic emissions or reflections from potentially hostile submarines and transmit these signals to US Navy airborne antisubmarine warfare forces. Sparton to Acquire Aydin Displays

Sparton Corporation subsidiary, Sparton Aydin, has entered into a definitive purchase agreement to acquire certain assets and liabilities of Aydin Displays, Inc., an $18 million revenue business, in an all-cash transaction. The acquistion is expected to provide $18-million in annual revenue, adding engineered product content of enhanced industrial quality flat panel display and touch-screen solutions. What Falls Down Must Come Up Again: DARPA Place Contract

Sparton Corporation has been awarded a Phase 1 contract for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Upward Falling Payload (UFP) program. Sparton, under the UFP program, will design a system intended to live on the sea floor and release payloads. This enablement is thought to represent a game changing capability for mission commanders. Lockheed Martin Awarded $35.8m Navy Contract

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $35.8m contract by the U.S. Navy to design and produce antenna buoy systems that will expand the communications capabilities of submarines while they are submerged. The Navy's Communications at Speed and Depth (CSD) program will use expendable submarine and air-launched communications buoys to enable submarines operating below periscope depth and at tactical speeds to communicate with surface ships and land-based assets via satellite networks.
