DeepOcean Charters Hornbeck Offshore's 'HOS Warland' for Gulf of Mexico Ops

Subsea services company DeepOcean has chartered Hornbeck Offshore's HOS Warland multi-purpose service vessel supporting the US Gulf of Mexico operations."The HOS Warland will extend DeepOcean’s capabilities in the larger construction end of the market through higher specification equipment installed onboard the vessel. The vessel has been part of DeepOcean’s offering for some time, but will now be secured through a time charter," DeepOcean said.DeepOcean said the firm charter would help it provide even better support to the fast-paced requirements of the IMR market, and to construction and installation projects that are managed, engineered, and executed by DeepOcean’s in-house team.

Maersk Drilling: First Order for "Chela" Crane

Maersk Drilling awarded GustoMSC the first order for the uniquely designed crane Chela, which is to be installed on Maersk Invincible (GustoMSC CJ70 design) which is currently operating on Valhall for AkerBP. Chela is desgined to improve safe handling underneath the cantilever and reduce total time spent on wells. Chela offers an extra hand in operations as, due to its crablike motion characteristics, it can reach below the cantilever as well as elevate towards the main deck, providing crane access to an area traditionally blocked by the cantilever when drilling.

Star Bulk Takes Delivery of M/V Leviathan

Star Bulk Carriers Corp., a global shipping company focusing on the transportation of dry bulk cargos, has announced that on September 19, 2014 it has taken delivery of M/V Leviathan, a 182,000 dwt Capesize built by Japan Marine United (JMU). Star Bulk Takes Delivery of First Capesize from JMU

Athens, Greece-headquartered Star Bulk Carriers says it has taken delivery of 'M/V Peloreus' a 182,000 dwt Capesize built by Japan Marine United (“JMU”) and the first of six similar vessels ordered at JMU, with expected deliveries until the 3rd quarter of 2015. The new ship will be employed in the spot market in order to take advantage of its modern design and fuel efficient specifications. Following the delivery of M/V Peloreus and inclusive of the two Kamsarmax vessels to be acquired from Heron Ventures Ltd., Star Bulk will own thirty three dry bulk vessels on the water, consisting of eleven Capesize, four Post‐Panamax, six Kamsarmax, two Ultramax and ten Supramax vessels with average age of approximately 7.3 years.

Aker Solutions Wins Multiple Drilling Equipment Contract

Aker Solutions has won a contract with a subsidiary of Honghua Holding Ltd. of China to deliver high specification drilling equipment components for seven new onshore drilling rigs. Honghua is building a series of seven drilling rigs for a premier drilling company in the Middle East region. The contract includes options for another four identical deliveries. Each drilling equipment delivery includes a draw work, three mud pumps, a 1000 tons top drive and other equipment from Aker Solutions. Pride International Dedicates Drillship

Pride International, Inc. (NYSE: PDE) announced the dedication of the second of its four new deepwater drillships under construction by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, the Deep Ocean Clarion. The company is expected to take delivery of the rig in September 2010, followed by the mobilization of the rig to the U.S. Gulf of Mexico where it is expected to commence operations in the first quarter of 2011 under a five year contract with BP. In a shipyard ceremony, Louis A. Raspino, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pride International, Inc., commented, "The addition of the Deep Ocean Clarion to our fleet further strengthens Pride's presence in the deepwater. These drillships represent the best, most technologically advanced generation of rigs.
