C-Job Debuts Self-propelled Cutter Suction Dredger Concept

C-Job Naval Architects launched its new Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) series and headlining the series is a new self-propelled CSD concept.The 34-in.self-propelled cutter suction dredger features cutter power of 3500 HP and a total installed power of approx. 26000 HP. The CSD includes two 6300 HP dredge pumps on deck and one 3500 HP submerged dredge pump on the cutter ladder enabling a maximum dredging depth of 95 feet. Callan Marine's new Jones Act cutterhead suction dredge (CSD) General MacArthur and its accompanying idler barge have entered service in Texas, heading to work on several projects before transiting to Corpus Christi for the second phase of the deepening and widening project.The newest and largest dredger in Callen Marine's fleet, the General MacArthur represents the next generation of dredging technology and crew comfort, said Maxie McGuire, President of Callan Marine.“The General MacArthur is a complete game-changer for the dredging industry,” McGuire said.

​​​​Maritime Constructions Receives Damen Dredger, Multi Cat

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered a Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) 500 and a Multi Cat 1506 to Maritime Constructions of Port Adelaide, Australia. The two vessels have been put to use on a port extension project in Onslow, Western Australia.Maritime Constructions has been awarded the contract to carry out capital dredging works for the Onslow Marine Support Base Channel Dredging project, which will see the modification and expansion of the Beadon Creek Harbor Approach Channel, Swing Basin and Berth Pocket.

DBL Group Bangladesh Enters Dredging Market

Dhaka-based business conglomerate DBL Group has recently launched its dredging business, DBL Dredging. To support its entry into this new market it ordered two IHC Beaver 50 cutter suction dredgers (CSDs), and two Delta Multi Craft (DMC) 1050 work boats. The two IHC Beaver 50s were delivered with a spud carrier pontoon, anchor boom installation, production measuring system and dredge track presentation system (DTPS). This will enable DBL to perform an efficient dredging operation.

Royal IHC Upgrades Three CSDs for NMDC

National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC) of Abu Dhabi, a dredging contractor in the Middle East and key player in the creation of the new Suez Canal, has granted Royal IHC an order to upgrade the automation of three heavy-duty cutter suction dredgers (CSDs). The Al Sadr, Al Mirfa and Kattouf were built by Royal IHC between 1999-2001, and were equipped with the then latest versions of IHC DPM (dredge profile monitor) and ACC (automatic cutter controller). Dredge Yard, Neptune Shipyards Introduce New Dredger

Dredge Yard announced it has partnered with Netherlands-based Neptune Shipyards to develop the new cutter suction dredger, EURO DREDGER 450. The EURO-DREDGER 450 is the first of a series of cutter suction dredgers with a discharge pipe diameter of 450 mm. It will be complemented with 350, 500 and 650 versions in the near future. All dredgers will have an inboard dredge pump and a hydraulic driven cutter head and a wide range of options will be made available such as a spud carrier system, anchor booms, submerged dredge pump and dredge automation and control.

Cutter Suction Dredger Launched in Singapore

On Monday, October 7, Cutter Suction Dredger Cassiopeia V was launched by ASL shipyard in Singapore for Penta-Ocean Construction Co. Ltd from Japan. VOSTA LMG is responsible for delivery of the engineering and the dredging equipment. The Cassiopeia V is a self propelled Cutter Suction Dredger equipped with three dredge pumps, flexible spud carrier system, anchor booms, barge loading installation and a traveling deck crane. It is diesel electric driven and propelled by means of two azimuth thrusters.

IHC Merwede Sells First IHC Beaver 65 DDSP

Following the launch of the IHC Beaver 65 DDSP in February, the first vessel has been sold to Advanced Construction Company, a member of the Al Geithy Group, based in Saudi Arabia. Testing was successful completed at IHC Merwede’s shipyard in Sliedrecht, The Netherlands, in early March and delivery to Jeddah will be organized in the second quarter of this year. After delivery the dredger will begin work in the Red Sea. The new vessel succeeds the highly successful IHC Beaver 6518 and belongs to the renowned IHC Beaver  series of standard cutter suction dredgers.

Powerful Dredger Named in Rotterdam

The Ambiorix is one of the most powerful and advanced cutter suction dredgers in the world and was built for the DEME Group at the IHC Merwede shipyard in Hardinxveld-Giessendam, the Netherlands. The new dredger is able to dredge to a water depth of 35 meters and can work heavy soil and hard rock. The Ambiorix is equipped with two inboard dredge pumps and one submerged dredge pump on the cutter ladder. It also has a barge-loading system, which can load barges moored alongside the dredger. VOSTA LMG - Karnafuly Contract for Cutter Suction Dredgers

The VOSTA LMG – Karnafuly Joint Venture Consortium Limited has signed a contract with the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB). The contract is signed for the delivery of two CSD 650 including components for a floating pipe line for both dredgers. The contract signing ceremony for the delivery of two Cutter Suction Dredgers 650 took place December 6th in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Construction will take place in Bangladesh at the Karnafuly Shipyard. VOSTA LMG will supply two engineering and components packages for the 2 CSD 650 to the shipyard. This is the second business that VOSTA LMG is doing in a Joint Venture Consortium Limited with Karnafuly Shipyard (Pvt.) Ltd. in Bangladesh. The first is the delivery of three CSD 450’s for Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA).

The dredge will be used for dredging projects throughout India due to the growing demand from the Indian market for dredging operations. The mono hull cutter suction dredge design and characteristics has been defined in close co-operation with the client and can be operated in shallow waters. It will be equipped with a Vosta LMG underwater dredge pump and inboard pump both type VL750, a hydraulically driven Vosta T2 cutter head and a Vosta LMG wire system spud carrier.
