Russian energy company Novatek said on Sunday it had been forced to suspend some operations at a huge Baltic Sea fuel export terminal due to a fire started by what Ukrainian media said was a drone attack.The giant Ust-Luga complex, located on the Gulf of Finland about 170 km (110 miles) west of St. Petersburg, is used to ship oil and gas products to international markets. Wärtsilä Voyage has signed a contract to deliver radio and integrated navigation systems for 10 icebreaking liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to be constructed for the Arctic LNG-2 project.The order was placed in January 2021 and is now in process of execution, in partnership with South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd shipyard. The new contract is an extension of the announcement made last summer, where Wärtsilä Voyage equipped five LNG carriers with integrated bridge systems under the same project.

Finland-based marine engine and technology provider Wärtsilä said it has been contracted to deliver a complete bridge systems installation for five icebreaking liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fueled tankers to be constructed for the Arctic LNG-2 project. Dutch heavy lift and transportation company Mammoet has said it has won its largest-ever contract at the Arctic LNG 2 project in Russia.Mammoet said Monday the contract was awarded by Technip-led joint venture NovArctic in cooperation with Saipem and NIPIgas. Under the contract, Mammoet will be responsible for unloading, transportation, and installation for the Novatek-operated Arctic LNG 2 project.The $21.3 billion Arctic LNG 2 project, sanctioned in 2019, will develop the Utrenneye field on the Gydan Peninsula.

Russia's largest independent natural gas producer Novatek said that total hydrocarbon production during 2018 increased by 6.9%, and had increased sales of gas."In 2018, Novatek’s hydrocarbon production totaled 548.4 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe), including 68.81 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas and 11,800 thousand tons of liquids (gas condensate and crude oil), resulting in an increase in total hydrocarbons produced by 35.1 million boe, or by 6.9% as compared with the twelve months 2017," said a press release from the oil-and-gas company.Preliminary natural gas sales volumes, including volumes of LNG sold, aggregated 72.12 bcm, representing an increase of 10.9% as compared with the twelve months 2017.

Shipbuilder VT Halter Marine, Inc. has officially started the construction of Taíno, the second of two liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered, combination container – Roll-On/Roll-Off (ConRo) ships for the Crowley Maritime Corp.’s liner services group. VT Halter Marine and Crowley entered into a contract for the pair of ships in November 2013 and construction began on the second ship with the first steel plate cutting in Pascagoula, Miss., this morning. A similar ceremony took place for the first ConRo, El Coquí, when its construction began in October 2014.

Moscow hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Taner Yildiz, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey. The meeting addressed the issues of strategic partnership, in particular, the prospects for cooperation deepening in natural gas supplies from Russia to Turkey. The parties noted that Turkey was among top consumers of Russian 'blue fuel' for many years and Russia, in its turn, was a reliable provider of natural gas for the Turkish economy, thus covering nearly 60 per cent of the country's total consumption. The Blue Stream gas pipeline is important for ensuring stable gas supplies to Turkey.

As Germany seeks to replace its shuttered nuclear reactors, it appears that the country will likely to become the biggest customer for the Netherlands' first liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal within two to three years, according to a report on Reuters. The 800 million euro Gas Access to Europe (Gate) terminal in the port of Rotterdam, built by Gasunie and Koninklijke Vopak and due to open in September, was initially seen as a small contributor to help provide a stable gas supply in north-west Europe. It received an unexpected shot in the arm when Germany decided, following Japan's Fukushima crisis, to immediately close 40 percent of its nuclear capacity and entirely phase out atomic energy by 2022. The capacity will need to be replaced by 10 gigawatts of new power stations.
