Five Vessels Delivered for Qatar’s New Port Project

Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) has delivered five vessels as part of an 11-vessel order for New Port Project (NPP). Built entirely at the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Ras Laffan Industrial City, the vessels were launched and delivered to NPP after successful completion of their sea trials. Measuring 15.4 meters long with a beam of 5 meters and a speed of 25 knots, the two Damen Stan Pilot 1505 pilot boats Um Alhoul 1 and Um Alhoul 2 will be used to carry out pilot duties and the transportation of personnel.

Damen Shipyards Antalya has secured ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certification, an achievement that coincides with a period of rapid expansion that has seen the addition of three new production halls within the space of two years. “These certifications confirm the quality of our production processes,” commented Damen Shipyards Antalya Managing Director Auke van der Zee. “They also show our commitment to safe and clean working practices. Damen Shipyards Antalya opened in 2013 after the purchase of the Cyrus yard by Damen Shipyards Group.

Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar JV is 5

On 23 November 2015, Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar celebrated its first 5 years of operation. With 40 vessels delivered or under construction, the yard has proven its capability to support Qatar’s national strategy for economic diversification. Damen Chief Commercial Officer Arnout Damen. NDSQ was established in 2010 as a joint venture between Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd. (Nakilat) and Damen Shipyards Group. Located in the northeastern corner of Qatar, the yard is ideally positioned in the middle of the Arabian Gulf and able to build ships up to 170 metres in length in steel, aluminium and composites. By building these vessels in Qatar, Mr Damen says that NDSQ is supporting the economic diversification and development strategy in the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Damen Debuts FCS 1605

The Damen Shipyards Group recently unveiled a series of new vessel designs based on its popular 16 metre long, 5 metre wide, semi Axe Bow design. The first of the vessels is owned and operated by Van Oord for crew transfer in the Caspian Sea. The concept originated when Damen Marine Services commissioned the construction of a Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 1605 in fibre reinforced epoxy. The idea was to demonstrate the efficiency of the vessel design in composite form. This, Mr Gelling states, makes the composite version of the 1605 hull well suited to a wide range of vessel types. To that end, Damen is building in series 1605 hulls, at the same time constructing compatible superstructures for Stan Pilot, Stan Patrol and Fast Crew Supplier versions of the composite vessel.

Damen Building 2 Vessels for Sharjah Ports

Sharjah Ports Authority and Damen Shipyards officially celebrated the keel laying of two new vessels on December 11 at Damen Shipyards Sharjah, the Dutch group’s new facility. Mohammed Meer Al Sarrah, Director of the Department of Seaports and Customs at the Hamriyah Free Zone Authority and Sharjah Airport International Free Zone presided over the ceremony. A long-term Damen customer, the United Arab Emirates port and customs authority already has eight Damen Stan Tugs in its fleet.

Based in Qatar, Alewijnse Middle East (AME) is a partnership between Alewijnse Marine Galati, headquartered in Galati, Romania, and Sora Marine Services, a highly regarded Qatari company with extensive experience in providing maritime services.
