Damen Delivers New 'Mega-barge' to Combi Lift

Shipbuilding group Damen said it has delivered the 111-meter Damen Stan Pontoon 11226 RD mega-barge Tomsk to heavy lift and project cargo shipping company Combi Lift. The barge will be used in the construction of Gazprom’s Amur Gas Processing Plant near Russia’s eastern border, transporting some of the largest components to the site.This contract follows a 19 vessel order placed with Damen by Combi Lift that was delivered in May 2018. It was comprised of four Multi Cat 2608SD workboats, four Pusher Tugs 2612SD, four Side Floaters 8605SD and seven 89-meter Stan Pontoons 8916SD.

De Klerk Takes Delivery of Two Pontoons

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered two pontoons to De Klerk in Werkendam, the Netherlands. The delivery, which took place on January 8, consisted of a Stan Pontoon 4111 named Oosterschelde and a Stan Pontoon 3011 named Kreekrak.De Klerk placed the order with Damen on December 1, 2020. The delivery took place quickly thanks to Damen’s practice of building vessels in series. Damen sales manager Vincent de Maat explains, “In the 1960s Kommer Damen revolutionized our industry with the introduction of standardised shipbuilding.

Damen Ships Multiple Vessels to Canada in Single Shipment

Five Damen vessels have made their way across the Atlantic Ocean on a unique voyage to Canada. Early this year, Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract with Ontario-based Doornekamp Construction for the delivery of a Shoalbuster 3209. The vessel was formerly part of Damen Marine Services’ charter fleet. What seemed an ordinary ship sale contract was, in fact, just the beginning.Shortly after this initial contract, Doornekamp Construction placed on order with Damen for a Stan Pontoon (barge) 7524.

Damen Delivers for Murjan Al Sharq Marine

To complete an extensive oil pipeline dredging and installation project, Murjan Al Sharq Marine Contracting Co. Ltd. (MSMC) has taken delivery of three Damen vessels: a Stan Tug 1606, a Shoalbuster 2509, and a Stan Pontoon 4512 equipped with a Damen DOP Pump. For Damen, this marks the successful conclusion of a coordinated construction and delivery contract involving three shipyards in the Netherlands, China and the United Arab Emirates.The delivery ceremony of the Shoalbuster 2509 at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem was attended by MSMC Chairman Mr Abdullah Natheer and General Manager Chris Clark.

Damen’s 3rd Annual Workboat Festival

Last Thursday, Damen Shipyards Gorinchem hosted the Damen group’s third annual Workboat Festival. The event brought together more than 200 customers, media and industry partners, and 34 workboats, for an afternoon of presentations, demonstrations, product displays and interactive exhibits.The workboats ranged in size from ten-meter Stan Launches and Stan Tugs up to a 72-meter Stan Pontoon. In between were Fast Crew Suppliers, Stan Pilots, Stan Patrols, additional Stan Launches and Tugs, plus an Interceptor and a RHIB.

Damen Shipping Multiple Pontoons to Rotterdam

The SAL Heavy Lift vessel MV Lone loaded onboard a newly built batch of eleven Damen flat top Pontoons in Shanghai. MV Lone is bringing the pontoons to the Netherlands. The majority of the pontoons will be available quickly to Damen’s clients from stock. Two of the pontoons have been sold already to a client in the Netherlands. The pontoons have diverse applications in civil construction projects, fish farms, heavy lift, dredging and renewable energy operations amongst other things.

Damen Stan Pontoons to Support London’s ‘Super Sewer’ Construction

The Ferrovial Agroman Laing O'Rourke joint venture (FLO) has taken delivery of two Damen Stan Pontoons. FLO will deploy the vessels – a SPo 7120 and a SPo 4113 – for marine infrastructure construction duties on the Thames Tideway Tunnel project in London. The joint venture company has also chartered a smaller SPo 3011 for a period of one year. Considered to be one of the most important civil engineering projects currently under construction, the Thames Tideway Tunnel represents the modernization of London’s subterranean sewage system.

Damen Stan Pontoon Delivered to Norway

Norwegian maritime transport company Skyssbåtservice has taken delivery of a Stan Pontoon 4512 from the Damen Shipyards Group. The 45-meter barge will be capable of fulfilling a variety of roles in both the general maritime transport sector projects and the oil and gas industry. As well as carrying general cargo along the Norwegian coast on its 12 metric tons per m² deck, the barge is fitted with a bow ramp giving it full RoRo capability. Tug stoppers on the stern also allow it to be pushed as well as towed to its destinations.

Twelve Damen Stan Pontoons and Tugs Arrive in Rotterdam

Damen has concluded its latest multiple vessel transport. The shipment of ready-for-delivery vessels contains Stan Pontoons 4113, 4111, 4512, 5211 and 6316 in addition to a number of ASD 2810 Tugs. From a client’s point of view, a transport such as this means that vessels are available at competitive prices and within fast delivery times. The transport was performed by SAL Heavy Lift’s MV Svenja, which set sail from Shanghai at the end of August loaded with Stan Pontoons from Damen Yichang Shipyard, China.

Damen Repeats Multiple Vessel Transport Strategy

Just down river from Damen Song Cam Shipyard, SAL Heavy Lift’s MV Svenja departed from Halong Bay loaded with 14 vessels. The shipment consists primarily of built-for-stock vessels – Stan Pontoons and Tugs – which will be available for immediate purchase on arrival in Rotterdam in October. MV Svenja’s voyage began in Shanghai on August 30th when she started loading eight Stan Pontoons that were built at Damen Yichang Shipyard, China. This first load includes Stan Pontoons 4113, 4111, 4512, 5211 and 6316.

Two Damen Stan Pontoons for Silverburn

Silverburn Shipping Group has taken delivery of two Stan Pontoon 8916 ICE vessels. Capable of taking on diverse heavy transport duties, these ice-classed vessels are robust enough to operate in all seasons.Built for stock, the pontoons left Rotterdam earlier this week on the client’s own transport after a three-week delivery time. The two 89-metre long Stan Pontoons were built at one of Damen’s partner yards in China – Nantong Yahua Shipbuilding.Damen built and transported the vessels to the Netherlands on a speculative basis. “We could offer Silverburn a very quick turnaround because we had these pontoons on stock,” says Damen Sales Manager United Kingdom Casper Vermeulen.

Royal Moroccan Navy Turns to Damen for First Tug

The Royal Moroccan Navy has taken delivery of a Damen Stan Tug 2208. The 22-meter long vessel, named Al Mounkid, is the first tug to join Morocco’s sizeable naval fleet. The Royal Moroccan Navy has a fleet consisting of frigates, offshore patrol vessels, training vessels and hydrographic, amphibious and auxiliary vessels. Its fleet, however, did not include a tug of any sort. In the past, Morocco’s Navy has turned to third party tug operators for towing, moving and mooring services.

Damen Water Barge for Moroccan Navy

The Royal Moroccan Navy has taken delivery of a Damen Stan Pontoon 3011 Water Barge. They will immediately mobilise the vessel to supply fresh drinking water to areas of Morocco suffering from a long-lasting drought. constructed the vessel within an extremely tight timeframe. With the pontoon fully operational less than six months after the order was placed, the team at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, the Netherlands, have demonstrated their commitment to construct the vessel as swiftly as possible. The Royal Moroccan Navy can transfer the Stan Pontoon Water Barge between locations with either a tug or workboat. Furthermore, due to its narrow 11-metre beam, the smallest of harbours are also accessible.

Damen, Frøy Vest Sign Multi Cat, Stan Pontoon Deal

On 28 October 2015, the contract was signed between Damen Shipyards Gorinchem and Frøy Vest AS from Norway, for delivery of a Stan Pontoon 4113 (YN 523702) and a Multi Cat 2712 (YN 571725). The event took place at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld, the Netherlands. The Multi Cat 2712, with a length of 27.27 meters, a beam of 12.50 meters and a maximum bollard pull of 34.8 tonnes, is a new type of workboat featuring considerable innovation. The vessel carries two Cat C32 TTA CERT engines with a total power of 1,790 bkW at 1,800 rpm, which offer the vessel a maximum speed of 10.5 knots.

Moroccan Navy Enlists Damen for Rapid Response

The Royal Moroccan Navy, in response to the severe drought that is currently affecting the country, recently awarded Damen Shipyards Group a contract to supply a Stan Pontoon 3011 Water Barge. Due to the urgent need for water in the region, Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, the Netherlands, is putting all its efforts into a fast delivery. Combining a Stan Pontoon 3011 with water making technology is a first for Damen. Bringing both technologies together in one unit is a unique and innovative solution to the current water shortage in Morocco.

Damen Stan Pontoon 9127 for Ocean Koper

Ocean Koperd.o.o, a member of the Ocean Team headquartered in Trieste, Italy, will strengthen its fleet with the addition of a Damen Stan Pontoon 9127. The contract, signed on June 24, is for the largest pontoon in the region, and certainly in the Adriatic Sea, the builder noted. This will be the second barge purchased by Ocean Koper from Damen. The towage company that provides offshore support services was established in 2005 and acquired the P9 barge, a Damen Stan Pontoon 7524, in 2010. Ocean Koper’s current fleet consists of two Anchor Handling Tugs, two tugs that are regularly involved in short-sea-towage-operations and two cargo barges. There were a number of reasons why Ocean Koper decided to return to Damen, with a specific benefit being on stock availability.

FSV Group Acquires Damen Barge for Aquaculture

FSV Group, the Norwegian operator of specialised vehicles for maritime operations, has taken delivery of a customised 41-metre Damen barge which will provide a range of services to the Norwegian aquaculture industry. This sector is currently expanding strongly as demand for farmed fish products continues to grow. Measuring 41 by 13 metres, the barge has undergone a number of modifications at a local yard since its arrival in Norway. These have included the installation of a ballast system and the addition of an accommodation block for up to four people plus two deck cranes. Further alterations are currently being made. Delivery took place around six weeks after the contract was finalised, with the basic barge already in stock.

Damen Delivers Pontoon to Kristiansund Taubåtservice

Kristiansund Taubåtservice has taken delivery of a Damen Stan Pontoon 4113. At 41 meters in length and 13 meters across, the Stan Pontoon joins the company’s existing fleet of three barges. The 4113 was delivered from stock available in Rotterdam. It was built in China and delivered as part of one of Damen’s regular shipments of pontoons of various sizes to Rotterdam. From there they are available at short notice for clients in Europe, Africa and America. The 4113 has a maximum deadweight on 980 metric tons, 536 m² of deck space and a maximum deck load of 10 metric tons/m².

Largest Damen Stan Pontoon for McKeil-Malaspina

The largest pontoon ever stock-built by Damen was sold to the Canadian McKeil-Malaspina partnership and will be towed to Newfoundland on the east coast of Canada this summer where it  will be used to support offshore construction operations. The Damen Stan Pontoon 12032 measures 120 x 32.2 meters, has a deadweight capacity of approximately 20,000 tons and a hold of 8.1 meters. Damen Receives Five Pontoon Orders

In December 2011, Damen Pontoons & Barges signed three contracts for a total of five purpose-built Damen Stan Pontoons (SPo): two Damen Stan Pontoons 6511 for Mammoet Maritime (The Netherlands), two Stan Pontoons 8916 ICE for Silverburn Shipping (I.O.M.) Ltd (UK) and one SPo 4113 for Rhumb Maritime (Australia). Delivery of the pontoons will take place between March and September 2012. Melbourne-based chartering company Rhumb Maritme ordered a Damen Stan Pontoon 4113 (41 x 13 m) with an outfitting best suited to the company’s current needs in the Asia-Pacific region.

Chinese Damen Partner Shipyard Gets Pontoon Orders

Damen places 4 more orders with its Chinese partner yard, Nantong Yahua Shipbuilding. Damen Shipyards signed the contracts for two Damen Stan Pontoon type 4113, intended for the Australian market, in the presence of some 1,500 workers, suppliers & customer representatives. The two pontoons will be finished in February 2013. Also a contract was signed for a Damen Stan Lander 5915 for Smit Lamnalco, who will use the Landing Craft vessel for the Shell project in Gabon and is scheduled to be finished at the end of 2013.
