New JV for Integrated Drive And Control Solutions

Scantrol, MEC/MJR and Hydrofit join forces in Dynamic Integrating in order to offer electric and hydraulic drive and control solutions for marine and offshore winches in UK. At the forefront of Dynamic Integrating is Derek Walker, with over 35 years of experience in drive solutions and Active Heave Compensation (AHC) for winches and cranes. “The idea behind Dynamic Integrating is to offer efficient integrated solutions by using the combined drive and drive control capabilities of Hydrofit, MEC/MJR and Scantrol,” said Derek Walker, Director of the new joint venture Dynamic Integrating.

For decades, barge owners and operators had no reason to think twice about their rigging. There were only a few choices when it came to winches, and there were ratchets as well. Because of the simplicity of these machines, few people in the industry were compelled to think critically about how such a basic item might be improved. But winches and ratchets have their downsides: fouling and birdnesting can and do happen. Wire rope is heavy, and traditional rigging takes a lot of it. And old-fashioned winches require a good amount of time and effort to operate. But what else was there?

DP World Australia Implement Navis TOS Operating System

DP World Australia completes next phase of TOS standardization & centralization with Navis N4 Go-Live in Melbourne, following on from successful implementations at Port of Botany & Fremantle, with a fourth scheduled for Brisbane in Q1 2014. Navis inform that DP World Australia has reached a major milestone, completing Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS) upgrades on three of four planned DP World sites. DP World Sydney, DP World Fremantle and, now, DP World Melbourne have concluded essential TOS implementations and are fully operational…
