Three Specialists join Wood Group

Wood Group has appointed three senior engineering specialists who will lead a new team of up to 20 people in the UK to further build Wood Group’s capability in vibration, dynamics and noise. This follows the acquisition of BETA Machinery Analysis, a Calgary-based engineering consultancy specializing in advanced vibration analysis, and will include the opening of a Southampton office in January 2016. Mark Hutchinson will become operations manager of Wood Group’s UK vibration team, Jonathon Baker joins as sales and business development manager and Rob Swindell will take on the role of R&D and technical authority. These appointments bolster Wood Group’s integrity management capability by adding subsea vibration and fatigue experience to its onshore expertise.

Eni Norge Enters Agreement with DNV GL

Eni Norge AS awards DNV GL a framework agreement for the supply of inspection services to the Goliat platform in the Barents Sea. The term of the contract is three years, with an option for a two-year extension. The assignment consists of planning and carrying out inspections of static equipment, load-bearing structures and offloading and anchoring systems aboard the Goliat FPSO during its operational life. The contract, which will help further reinforce the petroleum cluster in Northern Norway, is in line with Eni Norge’s ambition to create spin-off effects connected with the Goliat project. DNV GL has experience of working for Eni Norge from the company’s Harstad section, for example in the field of oil spill contingency.

LR Acquires Capstone Engineering

Lloyd’s Register Americas, Inc. has acquired Capstone Engineering Services, Inc. and Capstone Software Systems, Inc. The acquisition will be renamed Lloyd’s Register Capstone, Inc. and will strengthen the Lloyd’s Register Group’s integrity services business and provide its oil and gas business with a broader base in the Americas. With the addition of Capstone software, RBMI, the Lloyd’s Register Group strengthens its position by enhancing its world-class, risk and asset management services, and its client-focused, software solutions. Capstone, a Houston-based company, has been helping clients improve process plant reliability and equipment integrity by providing a set of integrated consulting services and the most comprehensive risk-based inspection (RBI) software on the market.
